The kitchen overlooks the water, and is designed to maximize light and views. Sarah Robertson of Studio Dearborn helped her client renovate their kitchen to capture the views and vibe they were after. An appliance wall takes care of the business in this kitchen, and a pantry door was designed to seamlessly integrate into the cabinetry. The range was placed between two windows that overlook the covered porch, and the homeowners collection of artisan pieces are displayed on shelving across the windows. The custom zinc hood gives the kitchen a feeling of age and patina.
Thoughtful storage is everywhere in this kitchen, including charging drawers, pullouts for cookware, trays, utensils and condiments, and a customized dog feeding station!

The chrome edge banding on the hood and the brushed gold hardware blends so nicely with the brushed nickel hood, pot filler and stainless steel range. The cabinet drawer and doors have a nice inset panel adding a little flair to the ever popular shaker door style.

We are looking thru the wall that was opened Details include bamboo window shades to add warmth and a pearly white mosaic marble over range for high-end detailing as well as open shelves over the sink area for the owners displays and plants. The pantry at end is only 12" deep so you can access back door but still creates great storage.
Plain & PoshThese homeowners were ready to update the home they had built when their girls were young. This was not a full gut remodel. The perimeter cabinetry mostly stayed but got new doors and height added at the top. The island and tall wood stained cabinet to the left of the sink are new and custom built and I hand-drew the design of the new range hood. The beautiful reeded detail came from our idea to add this special element to the new island and cabinetry. Bringing it over to the hood just tied everything together. We were so in love with this stunning Quartzite we chose for the countertops we wanted to feature it further in a custom apron-front sink. We were in love with the look of Zellige tile and it seemed like the perfect space to use it in.
Bakes & Kropp Fine CabinetryBakes & Kropp remodeled this former showhouse kitchen to reflect the personalities of its owners—and with 450 square feet to work with, the team had plenty of space to be creative. The kitchen now includes two sinks, two dishwashers, two fridges, and a large French Top stove to support the owner’s preferred cooking style. The space is elegant but comfortable and carefully blends a mixture of walnut, painted cabinetry, stone, and metal accents.
Just a few standout design details include the walnut ceiling patterning, the metal mesh overlay on the cabinet doors sourced from Armac Martin, and a custom range hood unlike any the Bakes & Kropp team had created before.
Love Your Room LLCWhen meeting with our homeowners for this kitchen renovation project, they presented us with a large wish list. This busy family of five loves to cook and entertain for their large extended family. They felt their current kitchen was not functioning to its fullest potential. It felt cramped, dark, outdated, and had no flair. They wanted more room for storage, and convenient areas to hold their cookware. They had an unorganized pantry that wasn’t working for them, and a desk area that had become a clutter zone. They showed us examples of a cool toned color palette that they loved and asked us to bring in some farmhouse style elements with a modern aesthetic. We could not wait to transform this room!
We began by reimagining the flow of the kitchen. In order to give them more counter space to use for food preparation, we moved the fridge to the wall where the desk was. We eliminated the messy pantry closet, and installed a tall cabinet to house an additional oven and built-in microwave. We added a large pantry cabinet to the right of the refrigerator to give them plenty of organized storage space, allowing easy access to snacks from the family room. On the left side of the fridge, we incorporated a drop zone area where they can leave their keys and mail when coming in from the garage. In the island we included a pull-out trash easily accessible from both the sink and the cooking areas, and added a vegetable sink to create an extended area for food prep. For the perimeter of the kitchen, we moved the range down to allow for a corner lazy susan and drawer bank for pots and pans, and provided them with a deep farmhouse sink to aid in washing larger items. By running the cabinetry up to the ceiling, we were able to provide them with additional storage space. We finished the cabinetry off with a beautiful decorative hood surround and capped the cabinets with a large stacked crown molding.
The finishes we chose for the kitchen help modernize the space while keeping the room feeling warm and inviting. We used a soft grey paint on the perimeter cabinets and infused a warm chestnut stain on the island and decorative hood. We incorporated corbel details at both the hood and island to add some depth to the design. We included a very unique focal point to the ceiling above the island; it is a custom trim detail in the shape of an X, with dark paint as an accent. We topped the cabinetry with a luxurious calacatta quartz counter that created movement with large beautiful veining details. Hand-cut high gloss white subway tiles added brightness and sophistication to the space. Touches of silver were brought in with cabinet hardware and gooseneck faucets. We added an abundance of lighting including recessed lights, a farmhouse style silver pendant over the sink, two vintage style pendants at the island with ribbed glass, and a large wood and silver chandelier over the table, giving ample light and making the room feel bright. Adding under cabinet lighting provided our client with much needed task lighting while doing food prep. We finished the room off by using four comfortable upholstered counter stools with distressed white painted legs, adding to the farmhouse feel. New hand scraped oak plank hardwood flooring was added throughout the first floor along with large baseboard trim to tie the rest of the house in with the new kitchen design. Our client now has a large, updated, modernized kitchen to conjure up delicious meals for their family and friends.
Cabinet JointThis traditional kitchen is the definition of elegance! The island posts, mullion glass doors, shaped bottom arches, and range hood combine to lend loads of detail and character to this large space.
Howell Custom Building GroupThe Hannah Fay House is a fine example of Italianate architecture. Built in 1860, it is located next to historic Phillips Academy in Andover MA and in the past it served as a home to the academy’s administrators. When the homeowners purchased the house, their goal was to restore its original formality and enhance the finish work throughout the first floor. The project included a kitchen remodel The end result is an exquisite blending of historical details with modern amenities. The Kitchen was remodeled into an elegant, airy space: Two windows were added on either side of cooking area to bring in light and views of backyard. Hand painted custom cabinetry from Jewett Farms features decorative furniture feet. Wood paneled raised ceiling with drop soffit gives new depth and warmth to the room. Cosmic Black granite replaced the outdated Formica countertops. Custom designed Backsplash tile consists of a traditional 3 x 6 subway tile with custom selected square mosaics which tie the dark counters in with the white cabinets. Coppery accents within the mosaics reflect the copper range hood and beautiful wood floors. Hand-hammered copper range hood. Commercial grade appliances. Glass display cabinets with interior lighting. The flooring throughout the first floor is antique reclaimed oak.
Design 1 Kitchen & BathThe existing white laminate cabinets, gray counter tops and stark tile flooring did not match the rich old-world trim, natural wood elements and traditional layout of this Victorian home. The new kitchen boasts custom painted cabinets in Blue Mill Springs by Benjamin Moore. We also popped color in their new half bath using Ravishing Coral by Sherwin Williams on the new custom vanity. The wood tones brought in with the walnut island top, alder floating shelves and bench seat as well as the reclaimed barn board ceiling not only contrast the intense hues of the cabinets but help to bring nature into their world. The natural slate floor, black hexagon bathroom tile and custom coral back splash tile by Fire Clay help to tie these two spaces together. Of course the new working triangle allows this growing family to congregate together with multiple tasks at hand without getting in the way of each other and the added storage allow this space to feel open and organized even though they still use the new entry door as their main access to the home. Beautiful transformation!!!!
Integral Design InteriorsThis open kitchen includes an island for prep and cooking plus and an island for entertaining guests.
There is also an adjacent bar height table with bar stools for additional serving and eating.
A set of custom storage benches are designed to be pulled into the room for overflow seating when needed.
The tile faced entertainment island has the unique ability to be rolled around via hidden rubber wheels recessed underneath.
The wheels can be locked through a clever locking system.
That island features a contrasting Blue Pearl granite top which compliments the secondary blue tones in the tile, barstools and benches.
The central axis of the kitchen has a copper finished embossed tin-faced inset on a 4 x 10 foot tray from which 3 pendants are hung.
Cabinet interiors are fully fitted out with the newest inserts and space saving technology.
Although not shown, there is a microwave drawer and warming drawer facing the high end 48" gas range.
Oil rubbed bronze handles and accents contrast nicely with the stainless steel appliances.
