The space is thoughtfully curated with modern furniture and punctuated by verdant houseplants, which add a touch of organic vitality. Bushman Dreyfus ArchitectsThe kitchen is as minimalist as the rest of the house. A metal mesh curtain provides a subtle division between work and living areas. The curtain is retractable and stores out of the way in a wall pocket when not is use.

TELFORD+BROWN STUDIO ARCHITECTUREThis 3,700 SF house is located on a mountain west of Portland and is subject to strong, continuous winds. In addition to traditional household functions, our clients requested a Chinese kitchen, a large library, a painting studio, and a courtyard.
Being accomplished cooks they wanted a second kitchen devoted to preparing Chinese foods that would be separate from the rest of the house. The courtyard is tucked into the hillside and surrounded on two sides by the house to protect it from the winds. The Chinese kitchen, main kitchen, and guest room open onto the courtyard. The living room, library and master bedroom have views of Mt Hood and St Helens. The painting studio has large north-facing windows.
Rastra block insulates the house from heat and cold and muffles the sound of the wind. The construction employs metal roof, wood windows and a radiant concrete floor. This well insulated house uses a geo-thermal system for heating and cooling. A 10 kW wind generator takes advantage of the site’s steady winds to supplement electric power.

Stonehouse + Irons ArchitecturePractical and durable but retaining warmth and texture as the hub of the family home.Rear works benches are stainless steel providing durable work surfaces while the timber island provides warmth when sitting around with a cuppa! The darker colours with timber accented shelves creates a recessive quality with earth and texture. Shelves used to highlight ceramic collections used daily.

Smith & Sons Renovations & Extensions New ZealandThis fabulous open plan kitchen brings a new heart to this period home in Lyttleton. The clients had a vision for what they wanted to achieve in terms of look and design. The Port Hills team worked closely with them through every step of the design process to deliver exactly what the clients desired for their stylish Lyttelton villa. This project included reworking the space, raising the height of the kitchen ceiling, earthquake repairs and strengthening work.
