Thyme & Place Design LLCThe existing 1970’s kitchen contained once DIY painted cabinets with drop ceilings, poor lighting, inaccessible storage, failing appliances and an outdated floor plan. The client desired a new and improved kitchen designed for a cook which was not only functional but would beautifully integrate into the design style of the home. State of the art appliances, customized storage for all things cooking and entertaining, subtle latte colored cabinets with a contrasting island, and much improved lighting and ventilation came together to create the clients dream kitchen. Designing an Island layout was the key in the transformation from an outdated room to an outstanding reimagined kitchen.
Pyramid Marble & GraniteCheck out this absolutely stunning Azul Macaubas quartzite! This client used the material on the island countertop and back splash. This material can be backlit meaning we install LED Panels behind the backsplash our countertops to make it light up! Our clients decided to back light the backsplash and WOW! The beautiful perimeters are done in a white quartz. Take notice in the island countertop as well, the client used a mitered edge giving the top depth and very modern detail. Of course, the pattern follows through with the edge as WE VEIN MATCH EVERYTHING! Love this look what do you think of this home??
Below is a quick tip for what to consider when choosing a countertop fabricator!
Remember when shopping for countertops to not settle for less than perfect craftsmanship. A few tips: They should always vein match any material that has a pattern or veining. This should be followed through with any seams, mitered detail work, backsplash, and waterfall edges. You also want to make sure the seam lines are not super noticeable. Make sure your fabricator has the right tooling, equipment, craftsmen, and machinery to do the job right. Here at Pyramid we always make sure all of our tops are vein matched to the Pyramid standard! We buy very large material and try to not seam countertops if we don't have to. If we do have to seam a countertop we well-known for our impeccable seams. (Our owner created the leading seaming machine in the stone industry). Okay, enough about us... just be sure when you are choosing your countertop fabricator you ask these helpful questions. Madelene Ross Design StudioRenovated this 1970's split-level home in San Diego
using pre-owned cabinets and second-hand finds to stay within the client's modest budget. A combination of cherry cabinets, macaubus quartzite, and porcelain floors provide a warm and organic aesthetic.

Breathe Design StudioCompleted in 2017, this single family home features matte black & brass finishes with hexagon motifs. We selected light oak floors to highlight the natural light throughout the modern home designed by architect Ryan Rodenberg. Joseph Builders were drawn to blue tones so we incorporated it through the navy wallpaper and tile accents to create continuity throughout the home, while also giving this pre-specified home a distinct identity.

SynonymousAn outdated 1920's kitchen in Bayside Queens was turned into a refreshed, classic and timeless space that utilized the very limited space to its maximum capacity. The cabinets were once outdated and a dark brown that made the space look even smaller. Now, they are a bright white, accompanied by white subway tile, a light quartzite countertop and brushed brass hardware throughout. What made all the difference was the use of the dark porcelain floors as a great contrast to all the white. We were also diligent to keep the hold extractor a clear glass and stainless steel.
Tate EnterprisesThis classic traditional kitchen works perfect in this Tudor home. The previous kitchen was knotty pine and very country. Our client was looking for a modern kitchen that would fit with the traditional exterior of the home. The white perimeter cabinets we took to the ceiling and stacked for a clean line and maximum storage. The large island is perfect for prep work and serving a large buffet when entertaining. The paneled appliances keep the kitchen clean and blend into the adjoining cabinetry. A few special details we included are the pull-out shelves in the built-in pantry, for easy access to the items that usually get lost in the back, and a shallow top drawer under the cooktop, for utensils. This kitchen is perfect for our client.
Reverse ArchitectureThe horizontal grain of the walnut elongates the interior face of the cabinetry. Minimizing the number of wall cabinets allows for an open, airy feel.

Innovative Design BuildOur clients wanted to utilize this particular area of their home and really give it a function. It has been many things over the years: bonus room, dining area, etc. The kitchen is the natural gathering spot. They wanted to create a space that was an extension of the kitchen for entertaining and serving family and friends.
Architect, Cynthia Karegeannes was hired to draw up plans for a mudroom to corral the couple’s two dogs and stash the pet’s leashes, treats, etc. A large butler pantry was imagined with a full size refrigerator, prep sink, dishwasher and custom cabinetry to have items handy for entertaining. Innovative Construction, helped finalize the details and implemented the plans for the new addition. Interior Designer, Beth Weltlich with The House Dressing worked with homeowners, to select materials and finishes to unify the areas of the existing kitchen and the new spaces. A custom banquette was created with room under the staircase so that all of the space could be utilized. Furniture and accessories are still in the works as the homeowners let the area evolve to see exactly what their needs are. A collaborative effort-for sure!
The challenges included creating three separate areas (mudroom, banquette and butler pantry) with storage and versatility in one existing space. Having this additional space that was not always utilized, the homeowners feel the new addition will become an integral part of the families' living area.
