mystoryco.The heart of the home - the kitchen. The brief was to keep it clean, simple and modern. The use of timber elements throughout the predominantly black and white kitchen brings some warmth and texture to the space.
The large window behind the stove opens up the space and allows natural light to flood in while helping with cross-ventilation in this open plan living area.
The kitchen has lots of storage built-in, with a lovely feature on the kitchen island with an inset open shelf and two cupboards that open on each end.
Power points have been added on either end of the island with four along the L-shaped benchtop for easy access and use.
PolycorThe peninsula opens up to the dining area offering open views through the back of the home. The honed finish of the Alberene Soapstone tones down the glare from the skylights for a soft glow.

Palazzo Kitchens & AppliancesThe same mat black lacquer cabinets have been carried through into the scullery (working pantry).
The large horizontal window allows plenty of natural light to fill this space, and negates any issues around the dark color in a small working environment.
The wall hung cabinets have a bulk-head that gives the illusion these are full height, and creates a more complete and finished look.
Western CabinetsCookbooks. A place for my clients much loved books was high on the list of reccommendations for thier family‘s new kitchen design. Not being able to part from any, my client needed a dedicated space for them to display amongst the design. The existing formal closed loving at the front of the home, entered into a separate compact kitchen and dining were to be transformed into an open, free flowing interior not disrupted by walls but somewhere the whole family were able to gather.
A soft palette layered with fresh whites, large slabs of clouded concrete benches, planked Jarrah timber floors finished with solid timber Blackbutt accents allow for seamless integration into the home‘s interior. Cabinetry compliments the expansive length of the kitchen, whilst the simplicity of design provides impact to the home.
PolycorA second, modified L-shaped peninsula flanks the other end of the kitchen doubling as a furniture piece and workspace. The dark gray painted cabinet pairs well with the matte black tonality of the Alberene Soapstone honed countertop from the Polycor quarry in Virginia.
