The client wanted a spare room off the kitchen transformed into a bright and functional laundry room with custom designed millwork, cabinetry, doors, and plenty of counter space. All this while respecting her preference for French-Country styling and traditional decorative elements. She also wanted to add functional storage with space to air dry her clothes and a hide-away ironing board. We brightened it up with the off-white millwork, ship lapped ceiling and the gorgeous beadboard. We imported from Scotland the delicate lace for the custom curtains on the doors and cabinets. The custom Quartzite countertop covers the washer and dryer and was also designed into the cabinetry wall on the other side. This fabulous laundry room is well outfitted with integrated appliances, custom cabinets, and a lot of storage with extra room for sorting and folding clothes. A pure pleasure! Materials used: Taj Mahal Quartzite stone countertops, Custom wood cabinetry lacquered with antique finish, Heated white-oak wood floor, apron-front porcelain utility sink, antique vintage glass pendant lighting, Lace imported from Scotland for doors and cabinets, French doors and sidelights with beveled glass, beadboard on walls and for open shelving, shiplap ceilings with recessed lighting.

4 compartment laundry basket storage keeps all the laundry out of the way while looking stylish. The countertop on top makes a great folding table.

Nestled within the heart of a rustic farmhouse, the laundry room stands as a sanctuary of both practicality and rustic elegance. Stepping inside, one is immediately greeted by the warmth of the space, accentuated by the cozy interplay of elements. The built-in cabinetry, painted in a deep rich green, exudes a timeless charm while providing abundant storage solutions. Every nook and cranny has been carefully designed to offer a place for everything, ensuring clutter is kept at bay. A backdrop of shiplap wall treatment adds to the room's rustic allure, its horizontal lines drawing the eye and creating a sense of continuity. Against this backdrop, brass hardware gleams, casting a soft, golden glow that enhances the room's vintage appeal. Beneath one's feet lies a masterful display of craftsmanship: heated brick floors arranged in a herringbone pattern. As the warmth seeps into the room, it invites one to linger a little longer, transforming mundane tasks into moments of comfort and solace. Above a pin board, a vintage picture light casts a soft glow, illuminating cherished memories and inspirations. It's a subtle nod to the past, adding a touch of nostalgia to the room's ambiance. Floating shelves adorn the walls, offering a platform for displaying treasured keepsakes and decorative accents. Crafted from rustic oak, they echo the warmth of the cabinetry, further enhancing the room's cohesive design. In this laundry room, every element has been carefully curated to evoke a sense of rustic charm and understated luxury. It's a space where functionality meets beauty, where everyday chores become a joy, and where the timeless allure of farmhouse living is celebrated in every detail.

This rear entry area doubled as a laundry room that housed only a simple closet. The closet was removed to make room for a classic mudroom hall tree, allowing for convenient open storage for grab and go boots, coats and leashes. A durable tile floor was installed to create a waterproof area that's easy to clean. Puppy's food, water bowl and leash are all accessible. The laundry area was fitted with ample storage cabinets, a natural quartzite working surface for folding and sorting, and a farmhouse sink for cleaning the dog and hand washables. Space was created for a rollout laundry basket, yet everything is tidy when not in use. A stunning tree of life wallpaper adds color and flow, complimenting the peacock blue cabinets. Natural tones in the flooring and light fixture warm the space.

As part of a commission for a bespoke kitchen, we maximised this additional space for a utility boot room. The upper tier cabinets were designed to take a selection of storage baskets.

This former farmhouse kitchen was remodelled into a spacious utility and boot room when my clients converted the barn adjoining their farmhouse into a new kitchen dining space. The room has a feature inglenook fireplace which was formerly the cooker space. This was redesigned and re-purposed into a cloakroom space including shoe cubicles, welly storage, coat and hat hanging plus an integrated bench. A tall and deep cupboard with dog bed below were built into a former but no longer required doorway. The lovely worn original flagstone floor plus the painting over the timber cabinet were the starting point for colours and we chose a soft olive green for some of the walls and cabinetry to work with these.

Goals Our clients wished to update the look of their kitchen and create a more open layout that was bright and inviting. Our Design Solution Our design solution was to remove the wall cabinets between the kitchen and dining area and to use a warm almond color to make the kitchen really open and inviting. We used bronze light fixtures and created a unique peninsula to create an up-to-date kitchen.
