This tv room and library space is a cosy corner in this large thatched cottage. The butter soft leather sofas are teamed with an upholstered ottoman and comfortable armchair. All surrounding a log burner and brick fireplace. The curtains are in James Hare Silk fabric with Bradley Collection curtain poles. The painted cabinetry is bespoke, and contains a special area for log storage. The tv is placed on an extending bracket within the cabinetry within the recess by the fireplace for comfortable viewing. The oak flooring is covered by a traditional rug for a cosy feel. The cushions are covered in Emily Bond country motif fabrics of foxes and hares.

Février 2021 : à l'achat la maison est inhabitée depuis 20 ans, la dernière fille en vie du couple qui vivait là est trop fatiguée pour continuer à l’entretenir, elle veut vendre à des gens qui sont vraiment amoureux du lieu parce qu’elle y a passé toute son enfance et que ses parents y ont vécu si heureux… la maison vaut une bouchée de pain, mais elle est dans son jus, il faut tout refaire. Elle est très encombrée mais totalement saine. Il faudra refaire l’électricité c’est sûr, les fenêtres aussi. Il est entendu avec les vendeurs que tout reste, meubles, vaisselle, tout. Car il y a là beaucoup à jeter mais aussi des trésors dont on va faire des merveilles... 3 ans plus tard, beaucoup d’huile de coude et de réflexions pour customiser les meubles existants, les compléter avec peu de moyens, apporter de la lumière et de la douceur, désencombrer sans manquer de rien… voilà le résultat. Et on s’y sent extraordinairement bien, dans cette délicieuse maison de campagne.

Richard Downer This Georgian property is in an outstanding location with open views over Dartmoor and the sea beyond. Our brief for this project was to transform the property which has seen many unsympathetic alterations over the years with a new internal layout, external renovation and interior design scheme to provide a timeless home for a young family. The property required extensive remodelling both internally and externally to create a home that our clients call their “forever home”. Our refurbishment retains and restores original features such as fireplaces and panelling while incorporating the client's personal tastes and lifestyle. More specifically a dramatic dining room, a hard working boot room and a study/DJ room were requested. The interior scheme gives a nod to the Georgian architecture while integrating the technology for today's living. Generally throughout the house a limited materials and colour palette have been applied to give our client's the timeless, refined interior scheme they desired. This beautiful Cotswold living room, originally built in 1650, has been updated sympathetically through an eclectic mix of modern furniture contrasting with its natural rustic charm. A statement black linen sofa, adorned by a selection of beautiful white cushions with geometric stitching detail, is framed by black lacquered Chinese trunks and oversized bespoke lamps. A large black and white framed print adds character and personality. Two metal round nesting tables, sit upon a beautiful white hide. The room is finished off with the all important accessories, including a water hyacinth round tray holding speciality gins, an oversized resin and stone clam and a vase of faux green succulents.
