Flavin ArchitectsThis new house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood developed in the 1920’s, that is in transition, with new larger homes replacing the original modest-sized homes. The house is designed to be harmonious with its traditional neighbors, with divided lite windows, and hip roofs. The roofline of the shingled house steps down with the sloping property, keeping the house in scale with the neighborhood. 北野彰作建築研究所古民家ゆえ圧倒的にブラウン系の色調が多いので、トイレ空間だけはホワイトを基調としたモノトーン系のカラースキームとしました。安価なイメージにならないようにと、床・壁ともに外国産のセラミックタイルを貼り、間接照明で柔らかい光に包まれるような照明計画としました。
