Sarah's kitchen and dining room had natural red oak floors that were in need of a refresh. Having grown up with white-washed hardwood floors back east, Sarah wanted to take that concept with a modern twist - so we decided on the grey stain. Playing off of the greys in the kitchen island and granite, the floors give a slight "aged barn wood" look to this beautiful space.

"A Kitchen for Architects" by Jamee Parish Architects, LLC. This project is within an old 1928 home. The kitchen was expanded and a small addition was added to provide a mudroom and powder room. It was important the the existing character in this home be complimented and mimicked in the new spaces.

This is a case study of a client living in Hong Kong. The client's residence is a 100-square-meter home. The client approached us with a requirement to find suitable lighting fixtures for their entire house. The home decor style combines modern design with a mix of natural wood and Scandinavian influences. The client wanted to select different pendant lights for each room - the living room, dining room, two bedrooms, and balcony. They wished for these pendant lights to perfectly match the style and complement each room, while also being budget-friendly. For the living room, the client desired a touch of Chinese-style wooden accents. Hence, we selected a bamboo-woven pendant light with a Chinese design. As for the balcony, the client wanted a consistent style with the living room, so we chose a double-layered bamboo-woven pendant light. For the two bedrooms, the master bedroom leaned towards a predominantly white color scheme, so we opted for a white Scandinavian-style pendant light. The second bedroom had a focus on natural wood, so we selected a wooden pumpkin-shaped pendant light. For the dining room, which had an overall modern white theme, we chose a white Macaron-style PH5 pendant light. Interestingly, during the process of selecting lighting fixtures, the client also became interested in our multifunctional robot-inspired five-layered dressing table. They ultimately decided to purchase and install it in the master bedroom. Upon receiving the products, the client expressed their satisfaction with how well the lighting fixtures aligned with their requirements. We are delighted to share this case study with everyone, hoping to provide inspiration and ideas for their own home renovations.

This project starts with a painted surface nuanced to bend and reflect like genuine silver leaf. Then a stylized mural of butterflies and birds, perched and in-flight, are rhythmically placed as you move about a landscape of stylized trees, foliage and flowers in a serene yet startling setting.

Historic homes are a hidden gem, and when this client approached me about remodeling her family home in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Dallas I knew we had a diamond in the rough. Under many layers of vinyl tile and plywood, the kitchen floors revealed pristine hardwoods waiting to be brought to life. An inefficient vintage kitchen had begun to break down and cramp the client's style and productivity. Mullioned windows obstructed the client's view and hindered her from connecting with nature. The detail elements such as soft arches transitioning from room to room were lost in a sea of white. This beloved home had become something it wasn't meant to be. Our goal was to help it welcome friends and family with open arms and provide a casual atmosphere in which to love, laugh and relax. We needed to transform it all; floors, walls, kitchen and bedrooms. We left no stone unturned until we had the perfect collaboration of traditional family heirlooms mixed in with a modern palette. New brown stained floors, grey European style cabinets, white quartz counters, textured backsplash tile, mullion free vinyl windows and an open floorplan modernized this kitchen while staying true to its natural roots. Neutral gray walls collaborate with dark accents in the arches to define their detail. Reupholstering the furniture in patterned fabrics updated each room to span the spectrum of traditional to modern. The curated collection of family antiques finished in new hues and newly acquired pieces create a space unique to and adored by this client. Photos by Zack Lewis of Showcase Photographers
