Gail Green InteriorsThe expansive country house in the depths of Old Greenwich combines aesthetic idioms in both its furniture and architecture. Although the room contains pieces in a variety of traditional styles, the overall feeling is informed by more modern ideas about space. Here, a light, bright airiness replaces a heavy traditional motifs.
The Neoclassical inspiration behind the decoration of the study / library is the French Bee. Designed as a cosy retreat, the room features a fainting sofa, swathed in petite flour-de-lis. On the floor is an antique Doris Leslie Blau Aubusson carpet of the Empire period, circa 1815. Opposite the sofa is a reproduction satinwood "Carlton House" desk with handprinted decoration. Before it sits a classic slipper chair upholstered in a striped Scalamandre yellow and white silk stripe. Also present is an antique George III oval satinwood work table and a commode inlaid with tulipwood decoration.
The sitting room displays a variety of painted and fabric finishes in a palette of white and yellow. All of the wood trim is given a faux marble treatment.
Carlette's LLCThis family room has a projection television so blocking the sun was very important. The arched balloons are functional as well as the roman shades on the doors.
Adstrum Technologies, LLCControl of the interior lighting allows one to set the ambience for listening to musical performances. Each instrument is connected to the Audio Distribution system so everyone may enjoy the performance; no mater where they are in the house. Audio controls allow precise volume adjustments of incoming and outgoing signals. Automatic shades protect the furnishings from sun damage and works with the Smart Thermostat to keep the environment at the right temperature all-year round. Freezing temperature sensors ensure the fireplace automatically ignites just in case the HVAC lost power or broke down. Contact sensors on the windows and door work with the home weather station to determine if windows/doors need to be closed when raining; not to mention the primary use with the security system to detect unwanted intruders.
The Fish GalleryThis 450 gallon aquarium is built from acrylic and features double curved panels. It has a natural look with its décor of rocks, plants and driftwood. The aquarium is accessed through matching millwork panels above and below.
