Luxury Garden DesignThe Oak Raised Beds offer a unique feature: an oak beam, laid flat, which provides a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy the surrounding garden. It gives you the opportunity to take a brief pause and savour a cup of coffee while admiring your edible garden.
Verdance Landscape ArchitectureBecause the sunniest place to grow vegetables is in the front yard, custom Cor-ten steel planters were designed as an attractive sculptural element, their graceful curves complementing the organic flow of the landscape. Informal gravel provides stable footing to walk and work, while remaining permeable to rain. Dwarf citrus grow in pots, and foundation plantings of Ribes sanguineum and Phormium 'Guardsman', and Ficus pumila vine anchor the home. Photo © Jude Parkinson-Morgan.
Alderwood Landscape Architecture and ConstructionOutside of Spokane, this formal garden area resides along this large property. Our clients wanted to garden without bending over, so these raised beds were built so the plants and vegetables sit about waist high. The metal fence is threaded tighter on the bottom to keep smaller critters out.
Yorkshire GardensWithin this garden we wanted to create a space which was not only on numerous levels, but also had various points of interest. This garden is on a slope, but is also very wide.
Firstly, we broke up the space by using rustic sleepers to create several raised beds,as well as steps which lead to differennt zones. This helps to give the garden a more traditional, country edge.
The sleepers were also used to create a winding path through out the garden, marrying together the various areas. The path leads up to the impressive sunburst pergola and circular stone patio. This is the perfect spot to view the whole garden.
At the other end of the garden another pergola sits amougnst a bustling flower bed, and will be used to train vining flowers.
Along the back wall of the garden a raised bed is home to a stunning display of wildflower. This plot is not only a fabulous riot of colour and full of rustic charm, but it also attracts a whole host of insects and animals. While wildflowers looks great they are also very low maintenance.
Mixed gravel has been used to create a variety of texture. This surface is intermittently dotted with colour with lemon thyme, red hot pokers and foxgloves.
Stone has been used to create a warm and welcoming patio area. Flower beds at the front of the garden can be used for veg and other leafy plants.
Overall we have created a country style with a very contemporary twist through the use of gravel, modern shape and structural landscaping.
Native Edge LandscapeThis custom keyhole raised veggie bed was installed in place of the owners' original in-ground veggie bed. Made from gorgeous red cedar with built-in trellis support, it is much more beautiful and more convenient and accessible than the original bed.
Ecoscape Environmental DesignNothing beats fresh-cut culinary herbs for your cooking creations. Just a few steps off the kitchen patio, this raised herb garden is a good example of permaculture zones. By growing food closer to the place you will use it, chances are you'll be more invested to keep the plants thriving and love the ease of snipping a few sprigs here and there!
Urban Oasis Landscape DesignA sumptuous palette of yellow and purple plants graces the slope. It’s a lush and biodiverse selection of California natives and the spirited expanse of flowers and foliage grounds the new house into the surrounding hillside. Aromatic native Sages, Monkey Flower and Yarrow play off the rich green of Coyote Bush while native Blonde Ambition Blue Grama grass brushes the magenta pom-pom flowers of Pink Melaleuca tree. The tight purple flowers of California Lilac complement the open faced California Sunflower. A Coast Live Oak was planted to stand sentry over all. Plants are all hardy and highly drought tolerant. The Kurapia groundcover lawn is verdant but, once established, hardly needs watering. The constant buzzing and bird warbling create a soothing natural soundtrack.
