Russell Landscape ConstructionHere are some photos of a recent landscape design we installed for one of our returning customers. Utilizing the space previously occupied by an above-ground pool, we created a gravel patio with a border of square pavers. Also, within the patio sits a wood-burning fire pit and a some random boulder groupings to add to the natural woodsy theme of the property. Around the exterior of the patio, we added several sets of boulder steps to access different areas of the yard. Above one set, we constructed a natural stone stepper pathway to connect the new outdoor living space with an area where we built a nice pond and stream a few years ago. Finally, we planted the area with a mix of deer-resistant plants and finished everything with some mulch and river gravel.

Native Edge LandscapeCustomer wanted to ditch their grass yard in favor of colorful native plants that would create a charming scene for friends and neighbors alike. They dreamed of a gathering space in their front yard that looked out over their native plantings, so we added a seating area with cafe lights and raised steel planters so that the plantings could be enjoyed while seated. Black star gravel was added for furniture and plant contrast, making them pop against the home and landscaping.
VisionScapesThis yard in Calgary's Eagle Ridge is a stunning example of elegance and refinement. The front yard was designed to incorporate the mature trees already existing on site with the addition of plenty of mature plant material to blend the new and the old as best as possible. The custom acid etched concrete patio incorporates a custom gas firepit complete with a lounging area, outdoor kitchen, dining area, and a custom built in stainless steel hot tub. With over 1700 sq.ft of outdoor living space on the patio, the clients are comfortably able to entertain large gatherings with ease.

To make the "creek-like" pathways more realistic, we use progressively sized stone and small gravel much like you'd see in a creek stream. 1/4-10 gravel is small enough that it looks like river gravel, but is also able to bind together relatively tightly, and still drain well. It also is much less likely to "kick-out" the way Pee-gravel does.
Mustang Landscape & DesignThis house is a stunning new contemporary home and the client wanted a garden design that showed innovation and individuality. The art work featured on the front corner of the garden is consistently pedestrian- and car-stopping! Closer to the front door is a water feature with two basalt columns, highlighted by yellow grasses, hostas and irises. The topiary hedge give vertical privacy and is elegantly lit up from below with a row of landscape lights. The backyard has a wonderful greenhouse, and a shed for storage. The rare yellow magnolia is the feature tree centred on the back fence. At the base of the back stairs, a pair of standardized hydrangeas add structure to the hedge of billowing variegated grasses.
