Dig Your Garden Landscape Design
2022 APLD Award Winning Landscape Designer. The living wall/vertical garden is filling in beautifully 2 months after the installation, providing a dramatic focal point for this mid-century model landscape renovation. The updates include a new concrete drive, a welcoming concrete pathway accented by shiny black pebbles along with a variety of grasses, lavender, yarrow, succulents and CA native plants. The large living wall was the perfect solution to bring life to the home's large front wall just next to the entrance. A variety of succulents, grass-like plants, cascading Oxalis and Lamium, were planted in long waves in the wall offering a beautiful tapestry of flowing textures and colors.
Gardens & Projects
The Lower Area surrounding the new conservatory will be a patio with an ample dining table and pathway using Global Stone Porcelain.
The Middle Area of the garden will be terraced with brushwood sleepers and wide format steps. It will be leveled with turfing sand and turfed with field drainage and with zones for sitting and enjoying the silence on a sunny afternoon.
Upper Area - along the fence line, white birch multi-stemmed trees that can cope with the harsh windy environment, give aesthetic value, and also help with drainage. The very top corner of the garden becomes a small patio with features to enjoy the views.
FormLA Landscaping
Creating 5-10 feet of defensible space around a home is key. After directly addressing the home's vulnerabilities to collecting embers, we planted low-lying, mostly-native foliage to protect the home from rolling embers. Should the home catch fire, this space also gives fire fighters safe space to address issues. Photo: Lesly Hall Photography

Urban Oasis Landscape Design
Dune Sedge grows in between and around the bluestone pavers that lead to the patio. A Hong Kong Orchard tree is planted behind the custom wood bench - when mature it will provide shade. A palette of purple and yellow reigns in this garden with a mixture of Lilac Verbena, Spanish Lavender, Catmint, Yellow Bulbine and more.

Dig Your Garden Landscape Design
A variety of succulents to include Aeonium canarienses and Aeonium 'Sunburst' line the walkways. To gain more usable space in this narrow landscape and update the hardscaping and overgrown garden, my design reconfigured the pathway with poured-in-place concrete pavers accented by Mexican pebbles and a stunning variety of succulents and other site-appropriate plantings that thrive in shade and part sun. We removed the tree to create a patio area large enough to fit a table and chairs for a small group. Non-invasive/clumping Bamboo was added to help screen the patio and provide privacy. Other shade to part-shade plants were included that provide a variety of textures and colors throughout the seasons. Low-voltage lighting was installed for safety and ambiance. This is the lounge fire pit area which will get a lot of use by both the kids and the adults. The flooring is made up of Belgard Mega Arbel pavers with a rectangular paver border. The boulders are natural and flank the seating area.
Chiltern Garden Design
This was a blank space with nothing but lawn and a path to the front door. Front gardens need to be welcoming all year round so this design incorporated a range of easy care evergreens in a contemporary parterre, with the warm tones of porphyry setts forming the centrepiece.
