SCJ Studio Landscape ArchitectureIn Seattle's Fremont neighborhood SCJ Studio designed a new landscape to surround and set off a contemporary home by Coates Design Architects. The narrow spaces around the tall home needed structure and organization, and a thoughtful approach to layout and space programming. A concrete patio was installed with a Paloform Bento gas fire feature surrounded by lush, northwest planting. A horizontal board cedar fence provides privacy from the street and creates the cozy feeling of an outdoor room among the trees. LED low-voltage lighting by Kichler Lighting adds night-time warmth .

Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignNapa, CA residence, adjacent to a steep rock hillside. My design solutions included a contemporary redwood horizontal fence to help screen the view of the hillside along with arbors for vines that help to break up the long narrow space. I designed a triangular-shaped pergola with decorative panels from "Parasoleil" that serves as an artful focal point while providing interesting shade patterns that casts its delightful shadow along fence and patio and bench below, changing its position as the sun moves throughout the day. The landscape design includes angular planting beds, concrete pavers surrounded by gravel and a small lower-water lawn for the family to enjoy. This contemporary London garden scheme was designed by Simon Thomas and built by Landscaping Solutions. The design comprises horizontal timber batten screening mounted with up and down lights. There is a central fireplace which also has storage space to the rear. The paving and steps are sawn sandstone incorporating LED strip lights beneath the step treads. The raised planters are painted white and planted out with Box hedging. The rest of the planting comprises Irises, Stipa grasses and Fennel.
ACRE landscape architecture + design studioA lovely yard that started as a long bowling alley of lawn. We wanted to create a more human scale in the lounge area without building too many visual barriers. The overall effect is splashes of woodland across a contemporary canvas.
The Ardent Gardener Landscape DesignCustom built Corten steel planters stair step down the slope. Grid patterns tie into the windows and architecture of the home, while ornamental grasses and native shrubs soften the spaces. A small Kentucky Blue Grass lawn allows for play, while larger grass areas are composed of drought tolerant Blue Grama Grass.
One Specialty Landscape Design, Pools & HardscapeAt 35+ years, this Ft Worth lake-home is wearing it’s age very well. To freshen up the surrounding landscaping and supporting elements, our clients dreamed of an avant garde look for both the front and backyard outdoor living space that tied together. One Specialty designed a re-imagined driveway, address monument, welcoming area and Xeriscape landscaping for the front. We constructed a multi-level deck made with Trex, complete with an outdoor kitchen and outdoor bar in the backyard, resulting in multiple vignettes for entertaining which are fully wheelchair accessible.

Creative Zen, Inc. Landscape Designer & ContractorKoi pond in between decks. Pergola and decking are redwood. Concrete pillars under the steps for support. There are ample space in between the supporting pillars for koi fish to swim by, provides cover from sunlight and possible predators. Koi pond filtration is located under the wood deck, hidden from sight. The water fall is also a biological filtration (bakki shower). Pond water volume is 5500 gallon. Artificial grass and draught resistant plants were used in this yard.
Ginkgo Leaf StudioAqua blue boulders are strategically placed within a bed of slate chip. Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' provides bright contrast.
