The soil in this part of the garden had been invaded by the aggressive pest Equisetum hyemale (horsetail or scouring rush). Apparently small pieces of the plant were contained in the soil that was brought in to create better drainage for our raised beds. this was our solution to the problem. photo by Caitlin Atkinson
Pepo Botanic Design
This water sensitive garden has a distinct Australian character. Pepo responded to the hot, dry and windy microclimate with a hardy collection of plants and iconic palette of materials. Corten steel and recycled timber were used to build windbreaks, railway sleepers were used with stainless steel wire to form a sculptural clothesline and locally-sourced sandstone sits amongst sweeps of silver and rust coloured planting. A magnificent, existing Jacaranda mimosifolia anchors the garden with an outdoor eating space underneath.

Many yards are very sloped and homeowners want to have a level area for lawn space or in this case a playground. What better way to make this happen than using what Mother Nature provides?! With a little creativity (plus a big saw with a rock blade) we build these beautiful natural retaining walls.
We used large cut stone (also known as chopped block) to build a level area where kids could play, dogs could run, and a level area the homeowner could enjoy.

A large south-facing suburban front lawn was converted into an edible garden that doubles as a dynamic and functional threshold to the front entryway of the home. The client, a young family with 2 small children, needed the space to remain relatively low maintenance and act as a teaching tool for the kids. The stone and timber raised beds and simple pathways help contain the gardening spaces and maintain clear lines to move through the site, whether it be to the front door, the driveway, or another part of the garden.
Layered around the clean, simple lines of the terraced garden are more organic spaces that are planted with perennial beneficial and edible flowers and along the fence line is a single sweep of lavender.

Red Oak Outdoor Lighting
The client had a unique vegetable garden installed in front of an existing renovated barn. They enjoy viewing the garden from the main house so we highlighted the trellises, assorted trees and a soft wash on the front of the barn. and
