Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignAPLD Silver Award Winning Landscape 2021. Dymondia ground cover filled in. An expansive back yard landscape with several mature oak trees and a stunning Golden Locust tree has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants complimented by a variety of boulders. Boodle ConceptsAn understated row of Ornamental Pear trees sit in from of a freshly Dulux-painted boundary fence in Hawthorn, Melbourne.
Galvanised steel trellis on timber posts provides height and drama to the garden space, allowing Star Jasmine to climb up the vertical garden and screen out the neighbours (adding privacy). A freshly positioned boulder retaining wall gives the space an organic feel.
Invigorating grasses add a lush element to the back yard, colour matching the artificial grass. Groundcovers cascade down and soften the severity of the timber retaining walls.

The perennial garden has a 'caesalpinia pulcherrima', vitex purpurea', cuphea ignea. The sitting garden includes a Furcrea mediopicta (mexico), Leucophyllum frutescens silver leaf (Rio Bravo), and Grevillea'long john'
Sitting at the mesquite table one can enjoy the re-circulating boulder fountain which attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Brightly colored mexican tile enhances the barbecue. The fireplace with built-in light box has a private sitting area surrounded by an Aloe tree, acacia cultriformis and strelitzia juncea (South Africa)
Red BermNewly built house needed a landscape. So from dirt sprang a usable backyard with a firepit, barbeque, retaining walls, and lawn area for the dog.
Urban Oasis Landscape DesignWe started by levelling the top area into two terraced lawns of low water Kurapia and more than doubling the space on the lower level with retaining walls. We built a striking new pergola with a graphic steel-patterned roof to make a covered seating area. Along with creating shade, the roof casts a movie reel of shade patterns throughout the day. Now there is ample space to kick back and relax, watching the sun spread its glow on the surrounding hillside as it makes its slow journey down the horizon towards sunset. An aerodynamic fan keeps the air pleasantly cool and refreshing. At night the backyard comes alive with an ethereal lighting scheme illuminating the space and making it a place you can enjoy well into the night. It’s the perfect place to end the day.
