Mosby Building ArtsWhen the family built a brand new home in Wentzville, they purposely left the walk-out basement unfinished so they learn what they wanted from that space. Two years later they knew the basement should serve as a multi-tasking lower level, effectively creating a 3rd story of their home.
Mosby transformed the basement into a family room with built-in cabinetry and a gas fireplace. Off the family room is a spacious guest bedroom (with an egress window) that leads to a full bathroom with walk-in shower.
That bathroom is also accessed by the new hallway with walk-in closet storage, access to an unfinished utility area and a bright and lively craft room that doubles as a home office. There’s even additional storage behind a sliding barn door.
Design details that add personality include softly curved edges on the walls and soffits, a geometric cut-out on the stairwell and custom cabinetry that carries through all the rooms.

Mark Brand ArchitectureFor our client, who had previous experience working with architects, we enlarged, completely gutted and remodeled this Twin Peaks diamond in the rough. The top floor had a rear-sloping ceiling that cut off the amazing view, so our first task was to raise the roof so the great room had a uniformly high ceiling. Clerestory windows bring in light from all directions. In addition, we removed walls, combined rooms, and installed floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall sliding doors in sleek black aluminum at each floor to create generous rooms with expansive views. At the basement, we created a full-floor art studio flooded with light and with an en-suite bathroom for the artist-owner. New exterior decks, stairs and glass railings create outdoor living opportunities at three of the four levels. We designed modern open-riser stairs with glass railings to replace the existing cramped interior stairs. The kitchen features a 16 foot long island which also functions as a dining table. We designed a custom wall-to-wall bookcase in the family room as well as three sleek tiled fireplaces with integrated bookcases. The bathrooms are entirely new and feature floating vanities and a modern freestanding tub in the master. Clean detailing and luxurious, contemporary finishes complete the look.
Inspirational Design & ConstructionThis was once a damp basement that frequently flooded with each rain storm. Two sump pumps were added, along with some landscaping that helped prevent water getting into the basement. Ceramic tile was added to the floor, drywall was added to the walls and ceiling, recessed lighting, and some doors and trim to finish off the space. There was a modern style powder room added, along with some pantry storage and a refrigerator to make this an additional living space. All of the mechanical units have their own closets, that are perfectly accessible, but are no longer an eyesore in this now beautiful space. There is another room added into this basement, with a TV nook was built in between two storage closets, which is the perfect space for the children.

Yours by DesignFour oversized chair and a halves provide comfortable seating for friends and family to gather and enjoy each other's company. The drinks tables between the chairs were a style that had been discontinued so we had to have the design custom fabricated locally. The amber glass surround of the fireplace sets off the slate face. The mantle was built out to accomadate the skoe glass art piece that now rest on top of it.
McLennan Contracting, Inc.Finished Basement with large built-in entertainment space and storage shelves in this newly finished basement were a must for making the most out of the space. The stairway creates a natural divide between the new living space and an area that could be used as an office or workout room. Through the barn door is an additional bedroom, as well as a bright blue bathroom addition. This is the perfect finished basement for a growing family.
