Niche reDesignDated wood kitchen undergoes a transformation! The old angled island had no storage and blocked the lake view. We created a butler's pantry by stealing some of the front room space, which was converted into a small office with a barn door.

Cabinet-S-TopIn this kitchen, Waypoint Living Spaces 644S Door style in Painted Linen was installed with a Wilsonart Calcutta Marble laminate countertop. A Transolid Diamond sink and pull down Luxe stainless faucet was installed. On the floor is Triversa Country Ridge Autumn Glow luxury vinyl plank flooring.

Edgewater Design GroupWhat do you do if you have a lovely cottage on Burt Lake but you want more natural light, more storage space, more bedrooms and more space for serving and entertaining? You remodel of course! We were hired to update the look and feel of the exterior, relocate the kitchen, create an additional suite, update and enlarge bathrooms, create a better flow, increase natural light and convert three season room into part of the living space with a vaulted ceiling. The finished product is stunning and the family will be able to enjoy it for many years to come.
The Jack + Mare | Portland Design & BuildSplit Level 1970 home of a young and active family of four. The main public spaces in this home were remodeled to create a fresh, clean look.
The Jack + Mare demo'd the kitchen and dining room down to studs and removed the wall between the kitchen/dining and living room to create an open concept space with a clean and fresh new kitchen and dining with ample storage. Now the family can all be together and enjoy one another's company even if mom or dad is busy in the kitchen prepping the next meal.
The custom white cabinets and the blue accent island (and walls) really give a nice clean and fun feel to the space. The island has a gorgeous local solid slab of wood on top. A local artisan salvaged and milled up the big leaf maple for this project. In fact, the tree was from the University of Portland's campus located right where the client once rode the bus to school when she was a child. So it's an extra special custom piece! (fun fact: there is a bullet lodged in the wood that is visible...we estimate it was shot into the tree 30-35 years ago!)
The 'public' spaces were given a brand new waterproof luxury vinyl wide plank tile. With 2 young daughters, a large golden retriever and elderly cat, the durable floor was a must.

Besides the beauty of the turquoise backsplash and clean lines this small space is extremely functional! Warm wood boxes were custom made to house all of the cooking essentials in arms reach. The cabinets flow completely to the ceiling to allow for every inch of storage space to be used. Grey cabinets are even above the kitchen window.

O'Hanlon Kitchens, Inc.As cherry continues to make a comeback, we show how classic is far from a dirty word. This kitchen used to be closed off and non-functional. With the help of our award-winning designer, Tracy West, it is now open, and has the perfect work triangle. By removing the wall that previously separated the kitchen and breakfast nook, the homeowners were able to relocate their refrigerator and add an island. The natural tones and textures in this kitchen make it feel inviting and clean and demonstrate that cherry can still add personality and dimension in a completely updated (and still timeless) way.

H. Miller BrosOur design process is set up to tease out what is unique about a project and a client so that we can create something peculiar to them. When we first went to see this client, we noticed that they used their fridge as a kind of notice board to put up pictures by the kids, reminders, lists, cards etc… with magnets onto the metal face of the old fridge. In their new kitchen they wanted integrated appliances and for things to be neat, but we felt these drawings and cards needed a place to be celebrated and we proposed a cork panel integrated into the cabinet fronts… the idea developed into a full band of cork, stained black to match the black front of the oven, to bind design together. It also acts as a bit of a sound absorber (important when you have 3yr old twins!) and sits over the splash back so that there is a lot of space to curate an evolving backdrop of things you might pin to it.
In this design, we wanted to design the island as big table in the middle of the room. The thing about thinking of an island like a piece of furniture in this way is that it allows light and views through and around; it all helps the island feel more delicate and elegant… and the room less taken up by island. The frame is made from solid oak and we stained it black to balance the composition with the stained cork.
The sink run is a set of floating drawers that project from the wall and the flooring continues under them - this is important because again, it makes the room feel more spacious. The full height cabinets are purposefully a calm, matt off white. We used Farrow and Ball ’School house white’… because its our favourite ‘white’ of course! All of the whitegoods are integrated into this full height run: oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a gigantic pantry cupboard.
A sweet detail is the hand turned cabinet door knobs - The clients are music lovers and the knobs are enlarged versions of the volume knob from a 1970s record player.
BroenHausWe panelled the appliances to keep this small space visually calm and allow the eye to go to the interesting design choices.
T. Morgan Construction, Inc.If this beautiful modern kitchen had a catchphrase, it would be "go big, or go home!". With an expansive island, large light fixtures, oversized subway tile, and lengthy cabinet hardware, everything in this space is scaled perfectly to match the high ceilings and the spacious room. The magnificent fireplace is the perfect accent to this large, open concept space. Its modern look and cozy warmth are the glue that ties this space together. Weather hosting an elaborate dinner party, or enjoying movie night with the family, this space will bring the "wow" factor to all.
Whitney Design StudiosThis small condo at the lake required some creative thinking- the kitchen is compact with minimal lines but lots of storage and plenty of counter space.
