Fendall Kitchen
The existing kitchen of this house was very small, and the stone exterior walls of the house prohibited enlarging the the room. The solution was to convert the dining room into a new kitchen, both because of the size of that room and its adjacency to the family room with its big stone fireplace and exposed timber beams, and to turn the original kitchen into a mudroom for this active family of four. The finish of a pair of Egyptian antique lights match the custom copper hood and sinks in the kitchen. The unfinished basement made it easy to run new plumbing to a previously unplumbed room, and an advantage to gutting the interior was that foam insulation could be sprayed onto the exposed stone on the interior faces of the exterior walls.
