Here we used a single, semi-opaque honeycomb, or cellular shade ( Hunter Douglas applause shades ) in a blue color to cover this massive (12 feet wide) basement window. Left down, this shade covers the ugly view while still allowing light to filter through. Honeycomb shades also have the added benefit of being insulating, another reason for using them in the basement.
