What are the dimensions of this island, and kitchen?? Love the lay out.

    This wide island is 6'-6" x 8'-0". The kitchen is approx. 24'-6" x 20'-0" including the kitchen and and adjacent lounging area with couch and fireplace.

    A reasonable island can be 3'-0" wide. But these narrower islands require sitting all in one direction. If space allows, a 4'-0" or wider island makes for a nicer arrangement. Wide islands allow those sitting to face each other as if sitting at a table. Better for talking and family time. The sink is opposite the range and in the island. And the island top is all one height (instead of raised counter). So someone preparing food is also part of the conversation.
