The tall spikes are a variegated New Zealand Flax (Phormium) and the lower, round rosettes are Aeonium urbicum. Both tropical/subtropical, so I guess it depends if you want to bring them inside for the winter. Both do well in pots, though succulents are easier to keep alive.
Hi, I've got lots of Phormium in my garden, it's planted in my borders, so it's never brought inside or covered. It absolutely thrives despite the very cold winters here in Norfolk!
