Kitchen counter and backsplash
Hello:
When we moved in the only part of the house that was remodeled was the kitchen. We love the cabinets--they are custom birch, and the appliances and apron sink are fine, too. All we have done so far are add the island lights and the walnut butcher block top for the island.
We have had some leaking where the sink is and some of the granite is discolored. But to be truthful, I am just not a fan of the granite or the granite backsplash. I was thinking of Silestone Yukon Blanco for the countertops.

What are your thoughts here? Or, if anyone knows a similar solid-colored, creamier white (not white white), might you suggest? We are kind of stuck with the floor, because I just don't have the energy for that now. We also have a cement sub floor so removing tile is impossible--I would just tile over it (in the future!)
As well, here is the tile I love for the back splash. http://www.annsacks.com/products/tile-stone-mosaic/chinois-field-tile#/chinois-hua
The 9x9 size is not ideal, nor is the price, especially considering I am the one laying the tile backsplash and make mistakes. Any other suggestions?
Finally, we will upgrade the cabinet hardware and stools But I haven't even thought of that. The rest of the
house was pretty much in shambles and we have been tackling one project
at a time, but mostly our home is contemporary. Thank you for looking
and for any suggestions you may have! Sorry for all the photos, but wanted to give an overall idea of layout.

Forfatter8 år sidenThanks so much, emmarene. For the backsplash tile, I am thinking of matching it pretty closely to the countertop in a white/cream. I always like the idea of a light blue but the brown in the floor and the cabinets may not mesh.

8 år sidenI love your kitchen! I'd want to change the granite too; it's pretty, but a big visual commitment, especially if you don't love it the way the previous owner must have:)
I like your Silestone choice and will point you to my favorite countertop - Caesarstone Nougat or Oyster. Not stark or flat, yet subtle. I love that lacy Ann Sacks tile, but I think you should skip it in favor of a sleeker backsplash. This one might be a headache for DIY, but I'll throw it out there anyway: https://www.tileshop.com/product/nova+hex+bianco+ceramic+mosaic+tile+-+5+x+5.5+in..do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=&from=Search&ecList=6&ecCategory=anniebird
8 år sidenI think an elongated hex would make a pretty backsplash for your kitchen - I know I've seen it but can't remember where now...maybe Heath Ceramics? Here's an Ann Sacks option in a smaller format: http://www.annsacks.com/products/tile-stone-mosaic/savoy-mosaics#/savoy-hive/Savoy_Mosaic_Hive_Ricepaperlms_1209 thanked anniebirdanniebird

I would like to do pulls too, but I have to drill into the cabinets and reconfigure. I wish there were pulls with just a center hole to attach to cabinets.
This is what I love about Houzz! Thanks again.
