Need help choosing the tile option transitioning from wood
We have to change the wooden flooring in the kitchen because of water damage. We would like to replace it with tiles. Any suggestions on what kind of tiles go with this wood? Is wood look tile that's pretty close to the current flooring a good idea? Thanks in Advance!

7 år sidenDepends upon the thickness of your wood. If your wood is 3/8"-5/16" it would be wise to use a ceramic or porcelain tile product. If your wood is 1/2"-3/4" It would be best to use a natural stone, preferably travertine due to the different gauges you can purchase. If you can purchase the same thickness product you can get by without having a pesky T molding between the two.
Personally I like natural stone or tiles that mimic the natural stone look. I would contrast the color of the wood, slightly more towards the color of your walls.

7 år sidenHi Malliyugan. As a designer and a flooring specialist, I would not recommend installing wood look tile when it is adjacent to real wood floors. Instead, I would suggest a large travertine square tile, laid on the diagonal. It would give you enough contrast with the wood floors, and still remain a neutral backdrop for your cabinets. This picture happens to be in a bathroom, but it certainly would look great in a kitchen. Hope this helps!
