Some people love the look of copper - who among us hasn't lusted after copper pendants? - but there are a few special features of the metal that you would have to cope with.

On a front door, copper will bring with it special challenges of oxidising and fingerprints.

    NOPE! Couldn't cope! I'd rather elope!

    Those fingerprints would leave me without hope and turn me into a misanthrope.

    For external doors most definitely yes! Copper has unique characteristics and is beautiful, like anything it depends on where you apply it.

    The fingerprints scare me off. And would the door turn to blue on the outside or the inside too?

    Not if it's treated against oxidising.

    Yes please! But I'm a fan of patina and wouldn't try to keep them shiny.
