Does anyone know of a floor tile that looks like this?

Hi! This looks like a polished cement, which we cannot do because our floors aren't strong enough and it would be too costly. But I'm looking for tile that looks like this and am struggling. I know the tiles would be smaller, which we would possibly grout with a matching color to make it not stand out. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you so much!

There are a number of companies that make LVT (luxury vinyl tile) to look like stained concrete. A few that I have seen installed and look great are -

    Mannington Adura - Meridian collection

Karndean - there are a couple in their Opus collection

Milliken has some nice looks in their Stone & Abstract collections

Aspecta by Metroflor has some really nice looking ones in their Stone & Masonry collection

Thanks, I wasn't originally interested in a vinyl option. I can see the printed pattern on it which ruins the authenticity for me, but I will reconsider it. I haven't found many darker examples from those places though. Until now I've been mostly just searching Home Depot for tiles, but found some close matched in pictures on Houzz - of course the best matches don't say what the tile is....

I'm concerned that if your subfloor cannot handle concrete, it cannot handle tile. Tile is VERY heavy...and these large format tiles are EXTREMELY sensitive to subfloor movement. They need the same rigidity/deflection rating as concrete.

That means the preparation costs will be the same (you may have to add a few layers of plywood to get the rigidity up to snuff). And the large format tiles are expensive to purchase and require a specialist to install it...which will add up to a cost that is very close to finished concrete.

There are click together vinyl tiles that come in large format that will be MUCH lighter than these tiles. And there are sheet vinyl products (specialty product = nice fat price tag) that would have the same look as well.

Please investigate what needs to be done to your subfloor to get these MASSIVE tiles in place...happily and without cracking/needing replacement in 5 years. You might be surprised at your requirements (and the cost of the HIGH END tile specialist and their materials).

"cannot do because our floors aren't strong enough and it would be too costly."

Tile flooring is one of the most expensive floors to install properly. And as Cancork stated theres a lot to the assessment and the PROPER prep work. When you shop around for an installer inquire about the "Total project price" Not how much it costs to install tile but includes the demo, meeting deflection, carpentry, underlayment, membrane, tile itself materials and the $6 a sq to simply set the tile and the bigger the more $.........followed by grouting, sealing and replacing baseboards.....costly....

Interesting advice everyone. I will certainly speak about total costs. But does anyone have a tile suggestion that looks like the photots--so I can at least find the tile I want before asking about costs? I appreciate everyone's suggestions so far but they've all been way too light. I'm looking for this dark appearance. For some reason I just can't find anything. thanks

I have seen custom floor jobs that used materials other than those made exclusively for use as flooring. For example, 4 foot by 4 foot slabs of tempered Masonite colored to look like stained concrete...and then given several coats of commercial waterborne polyurethane...authentic-looking and a durable product. I did one as a stage floor where I simply finished the Masonite as it was with no coloring done. A similar look can be gotten using slabs of Forbo genuine linoleum in any size and shape format desired. Genuine linoleum is an extruded product, so there is no rotogravure printing method to destroy the illusion. You can do a similar thing with homogenous commercial sheet vinyl.

I did a job in New Hampshire that used 16" by 16" Toli commercial vinyl tile that included a custom cut Belgian block border of the same material that was grouted with Laticrete epoxy ceramic tile grout. It just takes a little knowledge of available materials and the experience to know how to make them into a 'value added desired result'.

What you want is definitely achievable; you just have to find the flooring artist who will work with you to create the unique floor you want.

What glennsfc said is fascinating. I just need to find someone in Denver who know how to do this!

Find a dealer that displays Forbo genuine linoleum or that from another manufacturer to get a sense of what designs and colorways are available which might give you close to the look you want. Same for commercial sheet vinyl.

The Masonite suggestion is no where near a typical flooring solution, but one that can work.

    Good luck.

There are a number of "concrete look" floor materials that aren't concrete.

With the newer production methods - ink-jet printing random instead of litho with a fixed pattern, repeats are far less obvious.

Search Google Shopping for concrete look vinyl and a lot of them pop up.

Just a suggestion relating to color of concrete: Coretec Plus weathered concrete
