This is actually my front courtyard. Unfortunately, the bricks were existing when I moved in, but are certainly a mix of brick the previous series of owners had put in, Part of the house was built in 1890, so it has a long history! Many are crumbling and will need to be replaced when they get too bad. For now I chalk it up to character!
When I want brick for a job that looks old, I purchase brick that had been "tumbled". That softens the edges such as seen in the Moorish Inspired Courtyard. If your local supplier caries a "flash blend" that will add some variety to the color much more like you see in my brick. Some brick suppliers can even ass a lime slurry to the tumbling process to give it a white washed look.My supplier is Kinney Brick in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
