Unvented hot water cylinder - good or bad idea installing in loft?

Hi, we're just renovating our house and deciding where the new unvented cylinder should go... boiler will be in garage, but we're debating on whether the cylinder should go in the loft as it would save space in either the garage or utility room depending on where it ends up. UFH & therefore manifolds would also be installed/need considering in the space...
Plumber doesn't seem keen and wanted to sanity check with the lovely people on Houzz! Thanks, Steve

    You might want to consider the weight of a full tank and if the loft will take it.

    Are you having just UFH everywhere or will there still be rads in places? If so, consider that you will need access to valves to maintain system pressure after bleeding rads. Loft might not be easy!

    Our boiler and cylinder are both in the loft but the filing loop to maintain pressure is in the garage and easily accessible

    Hi there, our experts at sister company, Pump World Ltd, suggest keeping it all in the garage area because it's easier for maintenance and to spot if anything goes wrong.

    We went thru exactly the same thought process. All the
    heating engineers who quoted us were happy to install in the loft but each one
    suggested not doing it. Reasons included:

    1) Loft hatch needs replacement because cylinders are 570mm
    wide. Loft hatch wasn’t.

    2) A strong platform needs to be created to hold the weight
    (254kg total when full). It has to be supported on/from a load bearing wall and/or
    a timber let into the inner wall of the loft cavity wall.

    3) Because our boiler was also going up there they mentioned
    the possible problem of an OAP hubby climbing ladders up there to occasionally
    top up the system if required.

    After all that we still thought it was a good idea for space
    saving, and then discovered that a larger loft hatch with folding ladder wouldn’t
    fit in the only available position, because the timber support from the
    load bearing wall would be in the way. Lol.

    It’s all going in the garage now.
