Large wall behind couch- what to do?!

6 år siden
sidst ændret:6 år siden

Please ignore the mess- I have a 1 yr old and 2 year old :)
Need design advice...not sure what to do with the wall behind the couch. Thinking a picture ledge to display family photos and art (2 ledges or 1 long ledge?). Or should I hang extra large art?
The wall is about 25 ft long. Thanks in advance!

It's a great space -- and perfect, I think, for a gallery wall. Do the whole thing in black and white (black frames/white or cream mats - B&W photos) with your family pictures -- would look great. Add to it as you find things you like. If you don't want to be limited to B&W, then mix and match to your heart's content. If you look on HOUZZ, you'll find tons of cool examples.

The only other thing I can think of is lighting. I don't know what lighting is like in this room - I see some recessed lights -- but you might want to consider sconces on this wall, too. Good luck!

@coopermcboo - thank you! would you do two rows of pictures or a long ledge with various sizes of pictures? I don't think I could do b&w. We just took family photos in hawaii and they look so good in color :) Love the ideas tho!

Hi I vote for big colorful, art like on the main wall . Too much black and white will make the room feel cold. It should be a fun and colorful . You can use a side wall to make a single large framed collage of family photos

A collection of larger photos and a few ledges would be very nice to fill the large space. Just be sure to lay it all out before hanging so that it is balanced. See the attached photo for an idea. Just substitute you favorite photos - items for the sports memorabilia. Good luck with your project!

change your baffles in the recessed cans to white, you dont need the black reflectors. three large prints, or a gallery wall.

Everyone has good ideas. I think color would be better than all black & white artwork since the sofa is black & & would warm up the space and make it appear cozier and not stark. No one has mentioned a tall floor lamp in the corner behind the sofa. I'd like to see one there. It would carry the eye upwards and could be level with artwork, however many you choose, 1, 3 or more. The corner looks like it needs something.

One large piece of art work or perhaps a triptych?

I also love the "gallery wall" idea for that space. It would help to put some color in the space and you can mix it up with all kinds of different frames and fun photos, of the kids, pets and random things you like.

I think if you had a ledge it might become too cluttered and would defeat the purpose.

A panoramic canvas or print would work.
