Traditional home layouts often have each room in the house divided by walls, while modern day layouts opt for the complete opposite, the minimal number of walls possible. Removing or relocating walls will help reconfigure the existing space without having to add on to your home. This beautiful Almaden Valley home displays how removing existing walls can make a dramatic difference. By removing walls, they created an open floor plan that modernize their entire home and truly made the whole space appear much bigger.

      Looks great.

      My homes previous owners did the same thing. Took out the walls and removed the drop ceiling to reveal a vaulted exposed wood beam ceiling.

      However they didn’t do anything to insulate it.

      What did you do to have this insulated? Did you rebuild the roof with foam insulated panels? Or spray foam between the rafters then tongue and groove wood planks underneath? Or did you completely retrofit some kind of vented roof system.

      For this job we actually only refinished the existing ceiling. But in the past we have used either rigid instillation or spray foam.
