Terracotta flooring to hamptons style!
Hi there! We bought a house!! First floor has all the living and entertaining area but it has terra-cotta tiles through out! We would want to put timber flooring there in the couple or few months as the first baby on the way. Any ideas for us to make it Hampton’s style? Painting jobs required? Also with the kitchen, i am happy to paint all the cabinets in white and change the handles for now. Would current bench top work for hamptons? or do I need to change the bench top?

Also I want to put flyscreens on those Bifold doors. Any ideas if that can be done and cost and recommendations in Brisbane??

How about the actual windows? it is dark brown aluminium .. would this work for Hamptons style? or Do I paint all the windows too? Can I even paint on aluminium windows?? Megan from Bluethumb online art gallery here. I agree with me me that if you paint all the walls white you can achieve the Hamptons look without spending too much on the floor. However, timber floors would look lovely. I would also suggest turning the kitchen cabinets white and considering a warm toned bench top (perhaps a warm timber or creamy stone).
Adding Hamptons style furniture will really get the look going, and you have a great chance to complete the look with a feature artwork on that wall in the living room.

Hamptons style pulls a lot of ocean colours as accents, so often it'll use either blue or sand as the main accent colour. I've included a selection of both, depending on which way you'd like to go.

You'd want to keep the canvas quite large, as it is a big wall and a small painting would get lost.

Converting to a Hamptons style is pretty straight forward. The look is achieved by a combination of things that add up. Some are small, some are big but they all follow a theme (and can be done in stages). For example, installing timber architraves around your windows and door frames and into the reveals, larger skirting and shaker profiles to all doors. This is one we did below. You can see all the skirting and architraves etc.
With your aluminium windows, you can paint them white. We also install white timber venetians which work with the style and draw the attention away from the window itself to the point where most people don't notice what the window is. In the pic above they are a feature so nothing is installed.
We painted the walls an off white soft grey colour called Taubmans stone mountain with white skirting and architraves.
In the kitchen, shaker profile doors and a box like style.
