    remove everything including the travertine.

    Sorry for the bad news but its unlikely you can get just the inlay up without disturbing the travertine. You would still be stuck with the same inlay pattern as well. Best to pull the whole thing up or live with it until you can pay someone to do remove and install a new floor.
