I need help finding the right subway tile for my Wilsonart Winter Carnival countertop. It is busy so looking for something plain. So many shades of tan out there. Looking at Florida tile Retroclassique in Mocha but it looks so shaded (dark/light). Would like to know if it would go with my countertop or any other suggestions. Thanks.
You need to go to a tile store & bring back several options & see what matches in your lighting. You can post on here & we can help. I would go with a solid ceramic tile in a light color from your countertop.
I would not like any patterned tile with a patterned countertop. I agree with cream subway tile being a lovely choice. Your granite is beautiful with lots of warmth and interest.
When the tile is up, but before it is grouted, it will give the sense of what a darker grout will look like. In general, with oak cabinets a grout color that is the same or only a very light contrast works best. A dark contrasting grout can look busy and will show any error in the tiling. Since older walls are often a little out of whack, getting a perfect looking tile layout can be difficult.
We use winter carnival a lot and typically clients chose a cream subway tile. You could look for something that has a texture or unique shape but a solid color. Definitely do not do a heavy pattern, a tiny sized, or a mix of glass, etc.
Yes...cream subway with no pattern since there is pattern in both the granite and cabinet grain. I would match the grout color to the tile in order to avoid more pattern.
