Such photographs totally debunk the myth that the Japanese are minimalists. I've never seen so many kitchen utensils. I sympathize with the mistress of this house because she had to wipe a huge number of open shelves every day, getting rid of the dust. This is not a practical solution, especially in a seismically active zone.
