mains fed rain shower for tall ceilings?

Planning our next bathroom (the main one) and instead of a bath (which we never use!), we are going to be daring and go for a walk in shower instead
The room is 6’ x 7’4” with the shower on the 6’ wall. That wall will also have a window on it.
The shower area will be about 1600 wide so we wanted to put a shower head (rain shower) in the centre to make the most of the space, and a standard head on the side wall with the mains fed feed.
Trouble is, our ceilings are 2.75m high! Does anyone know of a supplier for such a head?
I’ve seen the ones you can fix on the wall that come up and over but if the window is in the way then it can’t be put in the centre ...

And being so high, it didn’t effect the showering experience? Just thought that by the time it reaches you it will not be quite as powerful
I’ve only ever had one in our first house which we mounted above the bath (smaller one) on an arm but I could reach that to move it around.

I'm sure we'll hear good arguments in favour of a bath but I haven't taken a bath in years (don't worry, I shower everyday...) so I would agree with having a spacious wet-room and no bath.
What has always prevented us from having a fixed shower(head) is the fact you can't adjust it to your preferred height, which is different for different members of the family and guests.
Then again I guess a waterfall as in Jonathan's link is a different 'concept' of showering perhaps.

Forfatter5 år sidenHa ha, I know. I had this discussion with Minnie on our bathroom layout post and she agreed that as long as the space was there for someone to put a bath in in the future then it shouldn’t be an issue.
Guests downstairs I think would prefer a shower than a bath and I it must be about 8 years since I ever needed one! (As in sitting down due to having flu )
I guess if it’s a large enough head and powerful it should cover most heights of people. We would put in a standard shower head at the side though for washing the dogs with

5 år sidenI love shower options. You can get rainfall heads with a pipe, lowering the outlet. I presume you've used and love a rainfall shower before, but if not I'll just mention, I find them a bit of a pain. The shower is like what it says on the tin, is a lot of water running straight down. I'd find too much water in my eyes, or running down my face. For me not ideal for washing hair or trying to keep hair dry. I prefer the more directed flow of the larger shower heads mounted on the wall. Last bathroom I had one but wouldn't bother again. My choice would be a large wall mounted shower head that gives you that rainfall effect but on a user friendly angle and a hand shower. :D

5 år sidenHi, A simple solution is to use a Ceiling Arm for your rain shower these come is different lengths so you can achieve the height you desire.

We have a combo boiler and the plumber today told me that a huge rain shower head (which we wanted) wouldn’t be v powerful as the pressure wouldn’t be strong enough. I can still have a head but it will probably have to be a smaller one like the one in your image.
Always worth checking before buying things that look nice but might not function wellJonathan
5 år sidenWhat would you have to do to make the pressure enough? I suspect he means flow rate and so perhaps you need a bigger water inlet pipe and a bigger pipe to the shower.
Don’t forget that powerful showers need wastes that can cope too

We have a lot of old lead pipes in the house and I know he’s replacing them with new plastic ones but not sure what it’s like from the house to the mains ie narrow or wide.
He’s pretty on the ball with the plumbing/heating side so will discuss it further with him to see if there is anything I can add to boost it.!
