We redecorated, added dark oak herringbone parquet flooring, velvet furniture and new lighting to our Marylebone High Street apartment project. Interior Design by Imperfect Interiors, photo by Chris Snook

Our client is a busy Company Director, keen tennis player and avid collector of original artwork and artefacts. Our brief was to help with the modernisation and redecoration of her beautiful period property with a particular requirement to create space to store and display her extensive collection and possessions.

Adding the right soft furniture is key for any space. For industrial spaces like this, neutral materials with different textures work best against exposed brick walls. The right balance of rough and smooth surfaces creates an inviting and homely environment. Smooth out coarse industrial elements by incorporating soft furniture to your space. Combining a shaggy neutral rug and contemporary floor lamp to bring individual style and elegance to your space.

Radiator covers are both a nice way to discretely hide unattractive radiators, as well as providing handy storage/surfaces, like this console table design. Twin brass lamps either side frame the map we hung on the wall.

The heart of the home is the reception room where deep blues from the Tyrrhenian Seas beautifully coalesce with soft whites and soupçons of antique gold under a bespoke chandelier of 1,800 hand-hung crystal droplets.

The deep, inky-toned paint was used to wrap the whole room, creating drama and luxury. The period features from this double-fronted reception room were fully restored and the fireplace was restored. We chose a warm wood for the floor, in a herringbone pattern to add a sense of warmth and luxury. A 1920s sofa was reupholstered, alongside a vintage cocktail chair, keeping the palette consistent, and allowing the pops of colour to come from the artwork and feature lighting. The pink Murano glass chandelier is a dramatic focal point, both playful and theatrical. We introduced touches of brass to complement the colours and textures. The velvet on the furniture gives a sense of inviting comfort. Bespoke roman blinds, also in the colour palette of the space, allow lots of light into the room and do not intrude on the sofa placed against the window.

Luxury living room we designed for one of our prime projects in Surrey. We used a natural colour scheme with a touch of grey to add the masculine and luxury feel to this formal living room.

In a small corner of a very large open-space, a secondary and more welcoming sitting area invites us to relax and socialise without the distraction of a TV, which is in a different part of the room. Though this room is in the lower-ground level of the home, proximity to terrace doors leading outside as well as two roof lights directly above it, make this the brightest corner of the entire room.
