We're thrilled to unveil a subtly vibrant living room design that beautifully reflects the culture and identity of a warm Indian family settling into their home in Hainault. This space is a gentle celebration of tradition blended with a minimalist, modern aesthetic. ? Client Brief Our clients wanted a space that felt like home—a room that reflects their Indian heritage while embracing a contemporary lifestyle. Their key desire was to incorporate vibrant colours and cultural elements without overwhelming the space. ? Design Concept We approached the design with an Indian Contemporary style—an elegant balance of rich textures, curated details, and purposeful restraint. Vibrancy meets minimalism here, with each colour and item thoughtfully placed to avoid visual clutter and instead create a calm, soulful vibe. ? The Evolution From mood boards to final renders, every element was chosen with intention. A geometric mid-century-inspired wallpaper anchors the room, providing depth and structure. We selected cushions, art, and accessories that echo traditional Indian motifs, while staying aligned with a refined palette. Brass accents, layered textiles, and a mix of warm woods add both comfort and sophistication.

The living room at Highgate House. An internal Crittall door and panel frames a view into the room from the hallway. Painted in a deep, moody green-blue with stone coloured ceiling and contrasting dark green joinery, the room is a grown-up cosy space.

The brief for the whiskey room cabinetry was dark and elegant. Deep green painted cabinetry, dramatic Caesarstone Vanilla Noir worktops, decadent Armac Martin Carlton Chocolate Bronze handles and bronze mesh fronts complete this sophisticated social hub.

The main room features 4 metre high ceilings and large sliding glass doors so that in the summer the living room doubles up with the outside terrace. TG-Studio also installed a new wood burning fireplace with flamed granite base and black steel back; this feature holds a 70 inch tv and surround sound system. It also hides a new double height towel storage room so that the niche (formerly a bread oven) could be opened up into the main room. The two L-shaped Lazytime sofas are by Camerich and the Toubkal cushions by The Rug Company.

This living area showcases a bright, open-plan design with soft neutral tones and elegant contemporary finishes. A curved sectional sofa anchors the space, complemented by warm wood accents and a round coffee table for a cozy, inviting feel. Floor-to-ceiling curtains and large glass doors allow natural light to fill the room, while recessed ceiling lighting adds subtle sophistication. The seamless connection to the dining area enhances the spacious and modern atmosphere.

After spending 40 happy years in their family home, Kathryn’s clients purchased a smaller apartment in Sydney’s South. Kathryn assisted in furnishing the apartment. A modern, fresh and bright apartment led to a black, white and natural coloured decorative scheme. Elements of timber veneer, glass and earthy looking upholstery contributed to the understated elegance of the furnishings. Sourcing a variety of beautiful pieces from suppliers in Sydney and Victoria the interior decoration reflected the design of the apartment. Fabrics were sourced and chosen specifically for the lounge setting which was hand crafted here in Sydney.
