A beautiful blend of old and new in this room.

EXTERIOR. This Malvern cottage was built 10 years before we began work and lacked any character. It was our job to give the home some personality and on this occasion we felt the best solution would be achieved by taking the property back to a shell and re-designing the space. We introducing beams, altered window sizes, added new doors and moved walls. We also gave the house kerb appeal by altering the front and designing a new porch. Finally, the back garden was landscaped to provide a complete finish.

Jim Ashley-Down One of the features of the original building would have been the way that light was used. Lighting was expensive and tended to be used only where needed. In this modern interpretation of that principle, lighting is, again, only used where it is needed. Focused downlighting in the ceiling become possible when desks are fixed to the floor thanks to modern telecom and electrical requirements.

Bespoke corner built in bookcase with panelled ends, decorative cornice and solid laminated hardwood height adjustable shelves. Designed and made in our Essex workshop and installed in a South Kensington Mews house. It is hand brushed in Farrow & Ball Strong White.

Designed by John Cowell Ltd and made by craftsmen with complete emphasis on both quality and authenticity this collection of Bars, Fixtures and Fittings are made from grade 1 mahogany unless stated and are finished in a high sheen antique patina polish or new contemporary finish. All our bars are complete with high quality bevelled mirrors and drawers and shelves where necessary. As well as this, we also stock a collection of handmade vintage industrial display bars and a range of original fittings such as panelling and antique cabinets.
