The bathroom on the ground floor fits snuggly in the leftover angled space with a beautiful curved shower and overhead skylight filling the otherwise wasted tight corner, transforming an awkward space into a unique feature.

A sliver of a ceiling opening at the end of the shower area that draws a gentle wash of light into the space. Could also have a down light in the same area that came on at night as indirect light - so it wasn't bright light before bed.

A few carefully considered pops of black are just the thing to add impact to a plain, white bathroom – and it seems that you agree. A little of the good stuff goes a long way; here, a thinly framed shower screen, shower set and handrail in black provide all the punch this simple white bathroom needs to shine. Extra points for the bench seat in the shower area – it’s a feature we’re seeing more of on Houzz recently as homeowners look to turn bathrooms into relaxing retreats.

Interesting feature using terrazzo and white tile. Nice idea to have the shampoo up out of the way from the bath surrounds

Lovely colour to back wall - make of concrete and finish to this look - but smooth finish so it doesn't need much cleaning. Nice strip light feature And the basin sings - but is it made of wood?

Ask your electrician to install power points inside your mirror cabinet. It means you can have an electric toothbrush or shaver charged and ready to go, and it looks far neater than putting your power points on the wall tiles. I also locate a power point or two within the vanity cupboard for hair dryers.

use LED lights across the top of the mirror cabinet or along the underside as an additional light source – it provides visual interest, without a huge outlay.

Perhaps having a bit of shelving that is timber adds some character - with mirror and 'wet stuff' in between.

ABI Interiors Make it easy-clean “Think about maintenance – nothing brings down a beautiful bathroom more than dirt and the appearance of uncleanliness,” says Bonney. You’ll find high-tech glass on the market that can reduce the build-up of grime on your shower screen and slash cleaning time. “Glass finishes such as Stegbar’s Nanoclean help to reduce cleaning times so it’s easy to keep your bathroom looking immaculate,” she says. The tub and shower placement were inspired by the views and by Japanese design. “I wanted it to feel like showering in the woods. And sinking the tub kept the views open,” says Peck. The bath has the dimensions of a Japanese soaking tub – shorter and deeper than a standard bath. “There is less surface area so the heat doesn’t dissipate,” says Peck. The sunken bath provides a lower viewpoint out the windows.

Glass block bricks can serve a dual purpose of being both decorative and functional. With often quite stunning light effects, they allow natural light and visual texture to filter into a home, while helping to maintain an element of privacy. Furthermore, due to their thickness, they reduce noise, insulate against heat and cold, and help to save energy.

These smoked-glass bathroom doors are from Rimadesio. “We selected them for a few reasons: to give a clear break from the wardrobe and bedroom; to complement the black tapware and other black metal work in the apartment; and finally for a little hint of drama,” says Darren Genner of Minosa.
