Perhaps something like this but no more than a frame above the electric fireplace. Low rectangular fireplace. Window seats on each side. Height of fireplace top at elbow height of those sitting on the bench. Don't need it padded. Want the hearth to double as the bench.

I really like how the tile extends from inside to outside. I like the outdoor kitchen to be close to the indoor kitchen. The doors that push open wide are important to us.

I like the idea of open space in the middle of the house. I don't want it completely separated but an interior garden/deck seems nice. I also like the deck hanging off the back. I understand why he chose to not have stairs from the deck! (long way down!)
