Amanda Reid founded Boston-based Mandarina Studio to create an interior design business built on creativity and collaboration. Amanda brings nearly 20 years of experience, taking the lead on all projects and working closely with clients to craft design solutions for inspiring spaces. Only a select number of projects are taken on at time to ensure Amanda can build the personal relationship and give each project its essential commitment and attention. We've worked with Amanda since we moved into a new house with little furniture. The house looks great and it's been a terrific experience. Amanda is extremely responsive to questions and our preferences, while proposing creative ideas we would never have thought of. In addition, she's a pleasure to work with. Could not have been better.

To say Amanda is fantastic is an understatement. We have loved working with her from the beginning. She is not only highly skilled at capturing our style and presenting a range of options for each selection in each space, she is extremely professional, detail oriented and reliable. Amanda has helped us transform a more traditionally-designed home into a more contemporary one, while keeping the design elements well suited for a colonial style home. We are now trying to find other small projects to add to the original scope so we can keep working with her!

Amanda is extremely detail oriented and thoughtful in her approach to design projects. Over the past few years she has worked on a number of projects for me and I have always been incredibly pleased with the end result. We have an older home that can be challenging to work in both in style and structure, and she has really brought the house to life by maintaining the classic essence of the house while bringing in my family’s more modern style.

If you are looking for precision, knowledge, professionalism and (of course) impeccable style, Amanda is gold. I have hired her for a variety of projects including the furnishing of a commercial space, my son's nursery, and most recently, large-scale renovation and restoration of my historic home. She is professional and to-the-point while still warm and caring. I have found that, as a visual/creative person myself, she has been able to incorporate my ideas, push my boundaries, and edit down my tendencies to stray all over the place in a wonderful way, and the results have been consistent and cohesive. (and deservedly praised in publications). I love the spaces she has done, and look forward to our future projects together!

It was a pleasure working with Amanda. She helped us with our master bedroom, master bath, powder room and living room design as well selecting furniture choices for these spaces. She listens well to her clients, is prompt and did an amazing job at understanding our needs and design style. She has a great sense of style and color choices which changed the space dramatically and brought our home together. Would highly recommend her.

Amanda of Mandarina has been a pleasure to work with. I have hired her for three separate projects over the past several years- kitchen/living area remodel, bath remodel, and furnishing a new residence- and have been entirely pleased with each of them. Her eye for design is impeccable, but she also has the important technical know-how to make sure that everything fits correctly and is scaled to the space (in the past I worked with a different design firm that did not have that concept down!) She is readily available, accommodating, and very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend Mandarina Studio. Working with Amanda made each project a LOT less stressful than it otherwise would have been!

We moved from a small townhouse to a victorian home, and Amanda did the interior design for our large living room, master bedroom, and dining room. Our home is open concept, and Amanda did a wonderful job of making the space feel cozy and comfortable and to break up the large open area into two different living room spaces. She understood exactly the look and style we were going for, and gave us options that we loved - this made decision making easy and the design process went very smoothly. She also was sure to make suggestions along the way and gave us ideas we would not have thought of on our own! Amanda is professional, friendly, and easy to work with. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who wants to make the most of the space they live in and create a beautiful environment that feels true to them. Amanda is truly talented at what she does!

I worked with Amanda on a residence in West Cambridge and she was extremely thorough in all aspects of the interior design. She actively listened to the clients wishes and transcribed those desires into a beautifully cohesive interior design for the remodel project. Amanda took great efforts to be extremely detailed to make sure that the interior design efforts came together to really set off the project. I highly recommend working with Amanda.

We have had the pleasure of working with Amanda over the last several months. From the beginning, our experience has been incredible. She took time upfront to thoughtfully understand our family's design needs - which were complicated given the fact we have young children, older children as well as pets. It's a busy house! The design she envisioned translated beautifully into our home. She blended practical fabrics with unique pieces offering clean lines and an exquisite color palette. Yet the home can be lived in as it should be. Amanda has an impeccable attention to detail, and a wonderful ability to navigate different design preferences (my husband and I often didn't agree and she was able to offer an approach we both liked). And, she is a terrific person who is simply enjoyable to be around. We can't say enough about her and the new design of our home!

I recently purchased a new home and needed everything from living, dining and kitchen furniture to lighting fixtures, rugs and artwork. The house was a blank slate and was presumably a daunting task to make it comfortable even for someone like myself who is intrigued by, and enjoys decorating. I felt like I couldn't approach the task alone and researched and spoke to several designers before choosing Amanda. I immediately knew she would be the most appropriate person for the job. She listened intently to what my vision was for the house to make it comfortable and welcoming. She was conscientious of my aesthetic and budget and provided several options for me to choose from. In addition, she guided me into making the most appropriate choices for each room to make it cohesive. She is prompt, mindful of my time and respectful to the business owners that we have dealt with. My house has turned into a beautiful home that my children and I can enjoy because of her help. I cannot say enough positive things about her and highly recommend her services.

We hired Amanda to decorate our Loft in the South End, which was a bit of blank slate when we moved in. All white walls and no personality. We wanted to focus mostly on furniture and paint, no construction for a living/dining room, bedroom, and office/guestroom. This was my first time working with a designer and I didn't know what to expect but I loved the experience. She really listened to what I wanted (and could figure out what I wanted even when I was unsure), was extremely patient, and very responsive. And I felt she looked out for our best interest avoiding brands or materials that would not work well in the space (or with a dog). She constantly kept us in the loop on where the project was in the process and was upfront about cost and timelines. She also recommended various furniture pieces from low to high end to help stay within budget. We did end up going over budget, but that was more due to our taste and what we ultimately decided for the condo.
