We needed Pete to design a remodel after a tree landed on our house during a storm. He did an amazing job designing a beautiful home working with our existing first floor and creating the layout and space we needed on the second floor. We highly recommend Pete for any design/build needs!

When I enlisted Peter to design the addition and major renovation of my itty-bitty depression-era farmhouse, I knew it was going to be a tall order to turn the tiny, chopped up, shanty into someplace I could feel at home. In addition to that, my budget was fairly aggressive and I needed to do the renovations in two phases to facilitate living in my home through the whole process. What should have been a nightmare was a really fun process with Peter and his team of professionals. Peter gave me several iterations which I was able to view in three dimensions and make changes, all while keeping my budget in mind. Peter listened and incorporated my desires while giving me expert advice on how I could improve flow, layout and aesthetic. The resulting drawings are of an antique farmhouse with a modern fusion that i can build in my budget. The process was fun and simple from start to finish and was exactly how a design/build project should be approached.

Archia Homes worked with us to renovate and expand our kitchen. The team listened to our ideas and helped bring that vision to life. Details like exposed reclaimed beams, a gas fireplace, and shiplap ceiling brought character to the space; without their expertise and high end finishes, we never could have accomplished this final product.
The team and their subcontractors were pleasant to work with. They use a helpful app to keep communication open and details organized.
We would recommend Archia Homes for your project.

During a late October 2021 storm, the crown of a very large oak tree fell on the roof of our home, causing substantial exterior roof and trim/fascia damage, as well as penetrating the interior ceiling, thereby allowing in rain. Within a few hours after contacting Archia the next day, they sent a crew to temporarily patch the roof and remove the dislodged interior beam that was hanging from the coffered ceiling (thereby preventing further damage). Over the next few weeks, Archia handled all of the permanent exterior and interior repairs. All this was done on a very timely, high quality and cost-effective basis, despite the general shortages of building materials and tradespersons. Heidi, Peter and Eli were excellent and we are very grateful. Thank you! Henry & Thalia

With over twenty years in the construction industry I’ve had my fair share of experiences with different builders, architects and building firms. Nothing compares to the all star team of Archia homes! Extreme attention to detail and quality are top priority. Peter’s drawings leave nothing to the imagination, with Heidi and Alli bringing it all to fruition. Archia homes as a design build firm will forever be my number one recommendation!

We worked with Archia Homes to reimagine our 200+ year old antique cottage in Scituate Harbor. We were looking for a builder who could support full scale construction, along with all of the nuances that come with an antique home and Pete Stames, Heidi Petrowicz and their team did just that. They tore down additions that had been tacked on over the years and excavated a new foundation, while also reinforcing the original antique foundation, and addressed a variety of other issues. This layer of the project was something we were very nervous about, but Archia tackled it head on.
Along with this, they reworked a larger mudroom into a new master en suite bathroom, a laundry room, and a powder room. This took a lot of creative design on Pete’s part to make happen. The new addition houses our Kitchen, walk in pantry, a bar area, and a living room that opens up to a balcony deck. In most of these spaces we incorporated some really nice millwork on the walls and cathedral ceilings that turned out phenomenal. They set us up with their custom cabinetry partner to allow us to maximize the space in our smaller home.
Archia achieved absolutely beautiful design. They are creative and collaborative and work with superior sub’s and partners. The craftsmanship in everything they did was superb and we highly recommend them.

We hired Archia homes to turn our third floor into a master bedroom & bathroom retreat. They were also tasked with re siding and re roofing our 1890’s Victorian home. From the very beginning we knew we made the right choice in hiring them. Peter, Heidi and their highly motivated team took the time on a daily basis to communicate with us and help bring our vision to life. They met every obstacle head on and were able to come up with creative solutions to ensure that vision was not compromised. Their attention to detail far exceeded our expectations. Archia helped us create a new space while also staying true to the character and age of the home. We couldn’t be happier with the end result and would highly recommend them to anyone!

We first reached out to Heidi and Peter when we were looking to purchase a home. We had picked out a house that we intended to completely renovate / add to, but ultimately couldn’t purchase the property for a reasonable price. They were so helpful during our in person meeting to understand ballpark costs associated with the project.
Finally once we found a home we decided on and moved into we discovered exterior painting wasn’t holding up. They recommended hardie plank which is what we decided on. What started as a siding replacement turned into a complete exterior renovation - windows, siding, trim, gutters and the addition of a front porch. We would recommend them for their knowledge in a reno project and also any exterior work which is what we ultimately used them for. We will never have to touch the exterior of the home now with fiber cement siding and pvc trim.
Peter designed the front porch within budget and the team worked with a surveyor and the town to ensure the project ran smoothly.

We could not be happier with our choice of builder for the recent renovation of our antique home.
Peter, Heidi, Nick, Bobby, Jenn and Mike (the lead of our project) were a great team to work with. They were extremely responsive to our questions and concerns. In most instances they got back to us within a matter of minutes.
Each of the subcontractors brought in our project were highly skilled, professional and respectful. We are so happy with the quality of work.

Archia was our design and build partner for a large renovation to our Victorian era 1910 farmhouse. Essentially, we pushed out the back of the house 8 feet for three floors which included basement, first and second floors. We also added a smaller (6 feet) bump out on the first floor that included a mudroom and full bath. At the end of the project, it was both a renovation and restoration job that included a new kitchen and family room, pantry, outside deck with privacy wall, mudroom, three bathrooms and master bedroom suite.
We lived in the house during the renovation so experienced first-hand the high standards that Peter and his team are committed to. There was never a time that work was not progressing as discussed, a question was not answered in a timely manner or issue not resolved.
Peter and his team did a fabulous job, from design to execution. Peter’s expertise and vision kept the charm of our 100 plus year house, while creating an updated home that fits today’s world. The roof lines and proportion of the house look like it was originally built this way; the interior details replicate the older house style – from molding to ceiling finishes.
Bottom line, we love our home and the work that Archia did to make it happen. Thank you Peter, Heidi, Dom and the many others who worked on the team!

We worked with Archia on a very large and complicated project to add on a large living room, screen porch, powder room, mud room and foyer as well as attach the house to the garage. Peter has a deep understanding and appreciation of architecture and design. He is an expert in the industry with incredible design sensibility. He was also very easy to work with, and willing to work in a collaborative fashion around design, ideas, and working within our budget. He also runs his business in an efficient and reasonable manner and his team and his contractors were all a pleasure to work with. We would use Archia again, and we would be sure to write as many details in to the plan as possible early in the process rather than make decisions as we go. This was our first time doing a project of this scope and size, and we learned along the way. Peter is incredibly skilled at his craft. We would highly recommend Peter to anyone.

We recently completed a year long project which included a renovation of an 1867 antique colonial and a 1400 sq. ft addition. Our goal was to update the entire house while keeping the look and charm of an old house. Archia Homes, Peter Stames and his team couldn't of done a better job. The quality and craftsmanship that went into this project was top notch and exceeded our expectations. Peter's project management, creativity and design skills were invaluable. Our primary concerns were timing and budget and we were not disappointed. Peter and his team met every deadline even when we added tasks to the project. Everything was well communicated and documented making the project and budget easy to track. From renovating bathrooms, installing new windows and floors, designing a gourmet kitchen and building a large addition Peter and his team were outstanding from start to finish. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and highly recommend Archia Homes.

During 2015-2016, Archia built a substantial new addition to our home that more than doubled the size of the kitchen and added a new sitting room, butler's pantry, finished basement and half bath. We worked closely throughout all phases of the project with many excellent people, including the architect recommended by Archia (J.B. Clancy), the project foreman (Matt Doheny), various recommended subcontractors and, of course, Archia's owner, Peter Stames. We are very pleased with the finished project, which has excellent quality and beautifully captures our vision and goals. I am so please with Archia Homes. Peter understood exactly what the goal was for our addition. Produced a set of documents and delivered on time and on budget. This is the second project we have worked with Peter on. The first one was a new kitchen and entertainment room in our family home. He and his team did an exceptional job and delivered a dream kitchen for my wife and a great comfortable TV room. So when we moved back to town and bought a small beach house to rebuild, there was no question on who to call.
Peter worked with us to design the house from scratch, taking into consideration our tastes and helping us design a great "upside down" house that would maximise our views of both the marsh and the ocean.
He and his team did a fantastic job as far as quality, timelines and cost. But more importantly, the communication and his ability to adapt as we progressed or made changes was critical to the success of our project, particularly as we were living in the UK at the time - adding a degree of complication.
In the end, we have a fantastic new home, the fit and finish and every detail is high quality and extremely sturdy. The project was done on time and on budget and we strongly reccomend Peter for projects of any size.

I was referred to Peter by a dear friend who is a Realstate Attorney and did a lot of research to find the best company to build her home! Archia built a beautiful media room, ping pong play area and a gym. I get so many compliments on how well done and beautiful my basement looks! My favorite feature is my bright orange barn door leading to the gym (handmade by Archia).
Peter Stames of Archia Homes is in a league by himself! His team is highly professional, able and courteous! They weren't only skilled but efficient. They finished the job on time and within budget! Whenever I call Peter with any problem, he sends a member from his team right away to rectify the issue. His customer service is stellar!
I have managed many renovation projects but I have never worked with a Contractor like Peter Stames!! Look no further-- We all are too busy to worry about trusting the right Contractor to manage a job. Give yourself peace of mind and higher Archia Homes. Our basement went from from being a storage facility to a place our family can create lasting memories forever!! Thank you Peter--you truly are One Of a Kind! Until our next renovation...

There was no idea we had that Peter didn't perfect, and then make happen. This includes a trap door in our kitchen floor, under a moveable island, for access to our basement. Archia demolished our 1950s 3 bedroom 2 bathroom rancher and rebuilt a 2-story 5 bedroom 6.5 bathroom shingle house in its place. We searched for 1 entire year for a builder that we felt we could trust and interviewed many builders before settling on Archia. Peter Stames at Archia Homes is one of the best kept secrets on the South Shore. The Project included the design-build as well as project management through construction of the house. The project got off to a slow start due to permitting issues, but ramped up very quickly after the actual work started. Then, we had what is called "snowmageddon" here in MA. We lost very little time due to the record-setting weather -- Archia's team worked 6 days a week in freezing rain, 5 feet of snow and record low temps. Archia's project managers Matt and Chris, were committed, dedicated and highly responsive to all of our requests. There was a clear commitment to quality of construction and customer satisfaction and the many tradesmen that Archia hired for this project were personable, helpful and seemed to take personal pride in their craftsmanship. We also used Archia's color consultant for tile and other finishes and she was excellent to work with as well. Overall, the project went over budget, but then again, what we have now is a beautiful, brand new house that fits into the neighborhood and reflects our personal style. The kitchen is the focal point of the house and its a show-stopper. We are still doing finishing touches now, but overall we are quite pleased with Archia's work on this project.

We hired Archia Homes to do a complete kitchen bump-out/remodel as well as 2 bathroom renovations. From the beginning of the project, Peter listened to our ideas, added his own, and created plans and drawings that were exciting to imagine. Through a well-mapped out process, that included constant on-line updates, milestones, and time projections, the drawings came to life. We couldn't be happier with the work. It is a beautiful room that we love to live in. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Archia Homes. Hoping to get some pictures on Houzz soon.

We are nearing the completion of our building project with Archia and are extremely pleased with the results. Operating on a tight budget, Peter and Chris were able to meet our needs and we now have a lovely, well equipped cottage style home that is as beautiful to look at as it is functional to live in. This home was built with careful attention to detail. The exquisite craftsmanship speaks for itself and Peter's crew's attention to detail is evident in the trim work, the floors and the built-ins through-out. Having never undertaken a project like this, we also appreciated the suggestions and recommendations Peter and Chris made at every step along the way. Chris, in particular, communicated with me daily on the progress we were making and the challenges we needed to resolve. This open channel of communication was key to getting the results we wanted. We love our new home.

Being an Interior Designer, I have had the opportunity to work with several contractors, one of which is ARCHIA HOMES. Peter and I are on the same page in many regards and it is a pleasure to work with him. He listens readily to my ideas and works extremely well with varied personalities of clients and tastes. Peter himself, has great taste and creativity and the completed project is both structurally sound and unique, but timeless.

As a business consultant I deal with hundreds of contractors around the country. I feel that Archia homes is one of the most professional contractors in the country. Their attention to detail and their professionalism is unserpassed in this industry. Not only are they one the most creative contractors I've ever met, they are also one of the ones that are totally on top of technologically. I know they enjoy challenging projects and the opportunity work on over-the-top projects.

Archia is incredibly professional and well organized. We are currently working with them again on a second large scale project. They have re-done our kitchen, powder room, dining room, family room, office, parts of our living room, master closets, master bath, entire basement, added a half bath, garage, porch and outdoor space. From stunning built-ins and cabinetry, to molding and detailed ceilings, their work is beautiful. Not to mention, they have coordinated all of the smaller pieces that go into a remodel of the house such as the painting, lighting, heating, an alarm system, roof work etc.
I trust their design ideas as well as all of their sub contractors who are honest, thoughtful and hardworking. Archia provides several scenarios including different cost saving measures. For example in re-doing our deck there were different materials and we were given cost break downs of each so that we could make an informed decision. On another project, before going ahead with major repair work they found in the basement, they always made sure to contact us and inform us of what they thought was absolutely necessary and what would be nice but was not vital.
Archia uses Co-Construct, an excellent website that enables the client and Archia to communicate daily with project updates, questions, selections, photos, etc. By using Co-Construct, all small details are remembered and attended to. We have had many different ideas for various parts of our house all of which they have worked with us to make a beautiful home. Archia is incredibly responsive to their clients' needs, whether it be through Co-Construct, site visits, phone calls or texts. We could not be happier with the work they do and the professionalism in which they carry it out.

I have had the pleasure of working with Archia Homes on several projects in the past few years. Not only is Peter Stames an amazing architect and builder, but also an innovative thinker. His knowledge of reclaimed materials is extensive and he is always looking for ways to reinvent a tired space. I can not say enough about his team of professionals. Clients are thrilled with the finished product, but sorry to see the crews leave.

Before my project began, I did a great deal of research and was very particular about the builder I wanted to work with. My project involved both a full-house renovation and a large addition, so I needed someone who was experienced with both. I wanted a builder who was easy to work with, who was creative and open to new ideas and whose previous work showed refined quality. When I met Peter Stames of Archia Homes, I knew I had the right builder. Peter had everything I was seeking in a builder and has never stopped amazing me. Aside from being a super nice guy, his work is top-notch and he always strives to deliver only the highest quality of work. He is very detail oriented, has extensive building experience, is a trained artist and has a degree in architecture. These things, combined, set him apart from other builders. Every tradesman that worked on my house was extremely professional and very knowledgeable...from the plumbers, to the electricians to the carpenters, etc. I always felt safe and "in good hands". I know I am not the easiest client. I have strong ideas and opinions and expect a lot out of my builder. But, Peter Stames has been able to deliver exactly what I wanted and I now I am living in the home of my dreams. I would highly recommend Archia Homes.

Recently I had the good fortune to be a guest at a stunning property Archia Homes had designed a 4100 ft. addition and renovation.
The attention paid to the original post and beam detail was impressive; I can say the best I have ever come across as a designer. Flawlessly, It was transitioned into and carried through the addition. Some say that you can never beat an original, but Archia disproved that cliche by respecting the original design of the traditional island cottage while updating it through the imaginative incorporation of space, scale,and design. The overall effect of the Archia renovations to this home took my breathe away as I was staying in a perfectly transitional and clean rustic environment that mirrored the architecture of the environment and put me at ease in this calm-inducing space. Clean and crisp while traditional and beachy are difficult elements to balance, but Archia accomplished this mood with apparent ease and familiarity. Highly reccommended, Archia Homes is a beacon for those wishing to lead a comfortable, open, warm, spacious relaxed elegant life as their houses represent.

We didn't choose Archia at random. After seeing several friends' homes that had been upgraded by this team, we were convinced that they were the right people to handle our project. What started as a simple knockdown of a wall and a kitchen reno turned out to encompass a reconfiguration of part of our first floor which has markedly improved flow and appeal.
We also discovered that previous work had been done to our house by plumbers that was beyond shoddy. A raised floor in one room revealed asbestos tile underneath. All of this was smoothly, effortlessly corrected by Archia without any sign of consternation. Occasionally, changes in our design choices were also managed by them in a seemingly effortless manner, although we are sure they had to hustle to make things happen.
In the end, we have been rewarded by a beautiful, functional dream kitchen that uniformly draws compliments, and better yet, oohs and aahs.

I have worked with Peter on many projects and always admired the high quality of the finished project. There was always an open dialogue with the owners from the largest to the smallest detail creating a seamless project.

Having lived in my home for 12 plus years and working on a vision to re-model and add to the house I finally decided to take the plunge.
I engaged the architect and builder, Archia Homes, from a referal of a valued and trusted friend of mine, Tim Mcklusky.
I live on an ocean facing property in Point Allerton in Hull MA with panoramic views of Boston Harbor, Boston Light and the City of Boston. The planned addition and remodel was intended to take full advatage of my hilltop views. Included in the plans was:
-a two car garage
-expanded living and dining area with fireplace
-new kitchen
-farmers porch
-master bedroom suite with stone tile and fireplace
-walk in closet with laundry
-rooftop deck with access from the master bedroom suite
-extensive landscape renovations
-completely new HVAC sytems utilizing natural gas
-and many more details too numerous to mention
Peter Stames, the principal owner and architect, did an AMAZING job combining the existing structure with the new addition. His attention to every detail far exceeded my expectations. Not only did he keep me grounded in regards to our budget but was able to do impressive work with the allowances provided. He was careful to collaborate with not only myself, but his contracted labor as well to provide the best possible results. I would say that Peter was able to execute my vision for the space and deliver a result that was truly magnificent in its finished product.
I could not be happier with the work and creativity provided by Peter Stames (principal architect and builder), Ross Macpherson (project manager) and Laura Lee Willard (interior design). Not to mention all the other contracted labor that Archia Homes provided.
Archia Homes is a truly OUTSTANDING builder-my highest reccomendation

I can’t say enough good things about the team at Archia. From concept and design to the finishing touches of my master bath and kitchen remodel, I was consistently pleased. Archia takes great pride in customer satisfaction. Peter is also extremely creative and had a keen sense of what was important in both aesthetic appeal and functionality for my project. He and his team are a unique breed of professionals – fun, good humored, focused and giving complete respect to their clients – a rare find in today’s world of home improvement and construction. I am thrilled to be able to start my second project with Archia in 2013!

Peter is a brilliant designer and architect. When we contacted him we were looking to expand our living space while preserving the integrity of our 1932 brick Tudor home. Peter listened to our needs, understood our vision, and offered numerous recommendations for improving our home’s form and function in order to meet our family’s ever-evolving needs. Peter is everything one looks for in an architect/builder. He’s artistic yet practical, a great listener, exceedingly punctual, reliable, efficient, has equally high standards for his team and subcontractors and is an absolute pleasure to work with. I’d recommend Peter and Archia Design without hesitation.

We have used Archia on a number of occassions for specific projects inlcuding a major 3 floor extension, a Kitchen renovation, Design and build our second home and other major renovation of an 18th century antique colonial home. We also continue to use them for ongoing maintenance of these projects.We would highly recommned this organization based on their ability to attract and maintain top subcontractors, very good quality work, on-time delivery and the ability to link design and build under one entity.

Reanne and I wanted to extend to a very sincere thank you for the work that you have done for us. As our project nears completion we both have a greater understanding of your forethought in design coupled with the grace and elegance in details. I know we were both apprehensive and a bit overwhelmed during the design phase but we could not be more pleased with the results. I truly have a whole new respect for the vast complexity of the planning procedure and the value of your expertise. Many times throughout the project your guidance and advice saved us time, improved the results and lessened our concerns.
It is with great pleasure that Reanne and I now have the home of our dreams. We look forward to years together sharing our home with friends and family, entertaining, relaxing celebrating the holidays but most of all simply living everyday in the beauty that is our home.

Peter and Archia did a major kitchen remodeling project for us in Duxbury MA. The project was done on time (and the schedule was very condensed), on budget and with great results. They were proactive in anticipating any issues and changes and made the project better then anticipated. They drove the punch list, coming by after the project on their own to tweak and tighten items and ensure that all was well. We have done a number of home improvement projects and would recommend Archia without reservation! Mark and Wendy Rayfield

Talk about building craftsmanship, professionalism, quality, creativity, and design solutions....Archia Homes provided all of these services plus more during our major kitchen renovation of our 1820 greek revival. Peter Stames came prepared with creative and tasteful options based upon our request and delivered against all our expectations. We would recommend him to any homeowner considering new construction or renovation projects.
