I am an experienced interior designer and project manager who works directly for clients or as a sub-contractor for established design practices and architects on both commercial and residential projects of all sizes. In addition to interior design I have a full understanding and years of experience of the build process including architect's drawings, structual requirements and the ability to produce CAD drawings with electrical plans. For clients and associates, the brand ClaranDesign is synonymous with elegant, bold and leading edge designs. From inception through to completion, I combine experience with creative flair to complete all aspects of the design project. Location: Derbyshire and £1.5m budget – date 2019 to 2022 We took the decision to design and build our own home but felt what our architect had produced wasn’t what we wanted to build. As we were spending a significant amount and were only doing this once we wanted to explore our options and build something we loved. That’s when we approached Clare and are so glad that we did. She spent the time to really understand our priorities and lifestyle and then designed around that to produce something we finally felt excited about. Our confidence just grew with her as the project progressed so she became an integral part of the process from beginning to end. What we spent on her services we more than saved from making big mistakes or hasty decisions. We’ve ended up with our perfect home because she listened and guided us and there isn’t anything we’d want to change – one very satisfied customer! How she quite manages to juggle it all we’ll never know and would love to work with her again if the opportunity ever arose.

Interior refit of entire house I found Clare on the Houzz App. I was initially worried that my project wasn’t big enough for Clare to take on. But Clare reassured me immediately and requested photos and videos of the existing set up. Clare quickly got back in touch and arranged a visit. I have Clare a budget which she quoted her fee against, I was more than happy with the quotation. Clare produced 3D models of the rooms which I approved and we went straight into the refurb. From then on my life was made so much easier with Clare’s attention to detail, bold but yet subtle designs. Clare searched all the interior finishes from paint, wall paper, lighting, tiles, floor finishes, furniture, soft furnishings and even minors and wall art. Clare also recommended various tradesmen who were superb. I was also impressed with Clare’s project management. She visited my house and the project continuously through out the works. I would highly recommend Clare to anyone and I have already done so.

Claire has been a excellent designer for my whole house, she has cost managed all the jobs so well, she has been very helpful and has fantastic understanding of colours. She gives her upmost attention to minute details.It has been a wonderful experience working with her to update my whole house. We were so lucky to choose her and would highly recommend her. We were very lucky to find Clare! Not only did she bring her expertise to bear on the project, but she also has a trustworthy network of building contractors, plumbers, electricians, painters with whom she has fantastic rapport. This meant that we didn't have to stress about a) finding a reliable contractor or b) ensuring material arrives on time or c) that the budget is managed or d) timely completion and e) quality of works. Our brief to Clare was that the property needed to be modernised completely within budget (we stressed a lot on spending money only if it substantially and disproportionately increased the value of the property) . As the project progressed, there were so many times where Clare reminded us of this objective when we were getting carried away and prevented us from spending money, kept us within budget. We are very thankful for this steer! A big thanks to Mike and Kev of Elite, Paul and Dan of PD decorators and Will Aust! As a result of Clare's guidance, network and expertise, our property has been valued far better than that at the start of the project. Objective met, mission accomplished!

The remodel of the ground floor of our home turned out beautifully due to the expertise, experience and vision of Clare at ClaranDesign. Being recently moved from the US, we needed someone that had relationships with good, high quality professionals and could work with us to achieve a design that married our US taste with the UK marketplace. Clare listened closely to our requirements and was always conscious of our budget (even though I quite frequently tried to ignore it ☺️). Although ours is a small home, the project included a new kitchen (with US sized fridge/freezer), new floors, paint, trim, build of a bump out for fireplace and recessed TV, a small wall extension, pocket door and sheers/curtains for the large bifold doors. Clare worked closely with us on design and color scheme and is currently helping/guiding with furniture selection, soft furnishings and placement of artwork. It was a true pleasure to get to know and work with Clare. I really appreciate her ideas, vision, honesty and sense of humour. All of which were put to the test when providing feedback on some of my less than stellar choices. I’ve learned a lot through the process - Clare now rarely has to say ‘that’s beautiful, but probably not for this project’. Thank you !

During the first lockdown, like many people the house became a focal point. We started to think about getting an extension or maximising our current space. Confused as to how to progress further I started searching for interior designers. Having never used one, I thought they were for the rich and famous. As soon as Clare came to our house she immediately understood what I was trying to achieve. I was impressed when she was able to offer ideas on how we could achieve what we needed by moving things around downstairs, things we had not thought about. She was able to visualise the end result. So the journey began. Lots of ideas back and forth, budgets confirmed and contractors booked to start the project. When the suggested kitchen from Clare’s recommendation was out of our price range, Clare worked with our sourced kitchen company to ensure the kitchen fit in with the project. Clare was on speed dial throughout the project, she was able to manage the contractors and reassure me when panic set in (which it did several times). Clare understood my style and through her guidance I was able to create a space which flowed. Where my go to was to play it safe (a white kitchen), Clare worked with me to be more creative. I took my time to choose furniture/soft furnishings, checking with Clare if I was not sure. I also learnt not to buys things for the sake of it but to think about how they would work with the house. The end result. An open space, with a bigger kitchen/diner/lounge. A space we love cooking, eating and entertaining in. The last couple of weeks we have been able to furnish the decking which was part of the project to create a thorough fair from the lounge, dining room to the outside. We created another space that connects the inside and outside to give us extra useable space. I would definitely recommend Clare. From concept to finish she helped us fall back in love with our house and create a space for our family to enjoy and create more memories. Thanks Clare. Sabby & Camillus

Asking an interior designer to help us planning the redecoration works for our new house was the best decision we took this year! Finding Clare brought us a lot more support than we envisaged! We bought a 1920 house in Sutton Coldfield and Clare helped us initially with the colour scheme for the internal and external paint of the house. We felt we were in safe hands and really enjoyed the early collaboration so expanded her initial brief to help us with the project management of the redecoration works. Clare recommended and mobilised contractors on our behalf, managed their timeline, organised the supply of products, checked the quality of works, ensured coordination between different works and I am sure the list is longer but mentioned just a few. We had a tight timeline and it was stressful at times, but it was fun all the way! All the contractors that Clare recommended were reliable, respectful, taking great pride in their work and nice people to be around! I would clearly love to work with Clare again and I would recommend her to anyone wanting to enjoy their house projects!

We had moved to an unattractive house in a great location, and been planning our refurb/extension from the day we moved in, 18 months earlier. We were already on our second architect but feeling completely uninspired. Clare came along and asked the right questions, persuaded us that we didn't need to extend so far and led me to "embrace" some aspects of the style of our house and realise that it could be attractive. Basically, she unlocked the project. She has impeccable taste, but remains very approachable and fun to deal with. Highly recommended!

I have used Clare this year to help me with my Kitchen/dining/seating area that we have struggled to get right over the last 8 years. After describing/discussing with Clare what I was looking to achieve having expressed my concerns with the how we failed to achieve the best use of the space, Clare delivered by taking on board everything I asked for and more. Clare's ability to listen and understand was demonstrated in her design. I feel she really understands the end goal of what you are looking for and what was important to us as a family and more importantly what would work for us as a family. The colours/furniture suggested was perfect and she always took into account our budget and what we were comfortable with. I found it easy to discuss thoughts with Clare as she has a very approachable manner and asks questions at the right point. I would have no hesitation in recommending Clare. I was worried about what could be achieved - Clare helped deliver everything we needed.

We have worked with Clare for just over a year now and can say nothing but praise for the way she handled our project. She helped us see the potential we had for making our downstairs space more functional and we were really impressed by her knowledge/ contacts/ vision and more importantly the attention to detail. What I particularly liked was how she was able to work with our builder and liase on issues which we would have not envisaged. She listened to us at all stages and now that the downstairs is completed we will have no hesitation contacting her our next project.

We hired Clare to help with the design and decoration of our recently purchased home. She helped us find where our invidual styles met and gave us the confidence to make bolder choices than we would have made on our own. Managing the project through a mixture of digital communication and face to face meetings let us fit things into our busy schedules. We are very pleased with the outcome of the project. Even months after the work has finished Kimmie will come home and exclaim, "I love out home!"

This is our first project working with Clare at ClaranDesign. The project is a refurbishment of a large property with a challenging brief. It has been a total pleasure integrating technology into the project alongside Clare. Very rarely do interior designers have such a complete understanding of all aspects of the project over and above the interior design. it has made the process of marrying the technology into the design fun with a brilliant outcome. Cant wait to hopefully work on many more projects together.
