My name is Katelyn Gilmour and I am the owner and Principal Designer of KBG Design, a truly full-service interior design firm. I pursued my studies at the prestigious Interior Design Institute in Newport Beach, CA. It was there that I received a Certificate, AA, and BA in Interior Design. Now with over 15 years of interior design experience, I suppose you could say that I am officially a 'grown-up' in my industry. My passion for gorgeous residential interiors starts with having a transparent relationship with my clients. I love learning how they currently live so that I can design spaces and, therefore, beautiful homes that will enhance how they will thrive in the future. I listen to my clients needs and do my very best to achieve their wish lists and then some. It's one thing to design a beautiful space on paper, but something entirely different when the designs are implemented. I convey design options with detailed CAD drawings, hand sketching, applicable concept images, and 3D renderings. The designs become clear for everyone involved: clients, general contractors, trade partners, and the city (when permitting). Katelyn Gilmour and her design firm, KBG Design, are one of our favorite designers to work with. We are a General Contractor and having a great design team is the foundation to the success of our jobs. Katelyn has a very clear idea and vision for her projects. Her plans are always beautiful, creative and precise. She has great design documents which has everything spec’d out ahead of time so there are no design surprises deep into the project. She is easy to get a hold of, communicate and collaborate with. And above all, her designs are out of this world amazing. Her use of color, texture, composition and scale is next level and we are always in awe. We feel very privileged to be able to work with her and her team to bring her designs to life. We always look forward to our next Project with KBG!

Ryan Anklam

We hired Katelyn for a large remodel project that involved moving our kitchen, adding a half bath, and reconfiguring our entire first floor. Katelyn’s designs were beyond anything we could have imagined. Her team was easy to work with and carefully listened to what our vision was for our home. Katelyn was very good at listening to our feedback and incorporating it into her revisions. Material selection with KBG was super fun, their team did a great job of presenting us with materials that fit our design and never gave us so many options that we were overwhelmed. Throughout the project we were very impressed with KBG’s attention to detail, they caught a number of potential issues early on that could have resulted in costly fixes later. Katelyn was always available to meet with our contractor or subcontractors as needed to ensure the project stayed on task and on design. We are so happy with how everything turned out. The new design and layout fits our family and lifestyle perfectly!

Katelyn was the best part of our home remodel. It started in Sept 2019 and when the pandemic hit, the world stopped including the remodel....we finally moved home 10 months after it began. The process was painful but the results were more than we could have imagined. I owe it all to KBG!! She was always the calm in the storm. Sorting us out, solving our problems from a construction company that didn't care about us like KBG did. She was a security we didn't know we needed. Her creative eye allowed us to take leaps and risks we might not have. Such a joy to collaborate with and trust. We love our home more than we ever thought we would and we owe it to Katelyn.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Kbg design (Katelyn and team). I spent a good year interviewing design teams, contractors, picking apart plans, editing, more editing, deciding who to move forward with, or if I even wanted to move forward. Kbg design incorporated every single vision I had ever dreamed of in a home, ideas that I didn't think could be possible, that I couldn't see flowing etc.... but I still shared them. I shared photos of ideas and pinterest pages, I wasn't super helpful as to the style I was envisioning-somewhere from modern, contemporary, chic to farmhouse.... all over the place, right? Katelyn took all this in and incorporated every single idea I had, from lots of seating for entertaining, a mud wall, a bar, a dining room, a porch, a walk in pantry, a command center...... a lot to have thought about squeezing into a 1200 sq ft home (what ended to be over 2100 sq ft). The team presented me with a few very detailed plans, all with every idea I blurted out over several discussions. Ultimately I took a little from every design and merged the plans into one. I was so excited. Contractor hired and my remodel began. Through out the process Kbg was by my side, for everything I needed and requested to their own check ins and walk throughs. Fast fwd, I have the home of my dreams, beautiful to say the least and no detail left behind. I expected nightmares, none to be had. Shockingly, I can't wait for the day I can remodel another home with Kbg:)

We are currently in the midst of a whole remodel and addition. When we first started this process, we weren’t really sure if we needed a designer. We were working with an architect and had some basic plans completed. After coming across several of Katelyn’s beautiful projects on Houzz, we knew that we needed her on our team! She immediately identified improvements to our plans that would allow us to have a larger pantry & kitchen and also improve the flow throughout our home. She was also able to imagine other details that weren’t on the architect's radar - built-ins, lighting details, etc. Katelyn has got such a great eye for design and has the ability to balance function and beauty. She was somehow able to understand our vision even though it sometimes felt like we were wavering between design styles. She is also super friendly, trustworthy and incredibly easy to work with. Whenever something unexpected has come up in the construction process, Katelyn is always available and ready to offer a workable solution. This has made the process so much more enjoyable and stress free so far! We are so grateful that we found KBG Design! If we could do one thing differently, it would be to hire Katelyn earlier in the process to complete both our architecture plans as well as our design plans.

Katelyn is an excellent designer - she is passionate, creative, positive, professional and talented! Our project was one that evolved over time and Katelyn was a crucial part of navigating through the changes and adjustments. As our project changed Katelyn was flexible and carefully listened to our needs and did everything to accomplish most of our needs and desires. We enjoyed the creative process of drawing up potential plans with her and thinking through how we would like our home to look and feel. I hired KBG Design to help with our recent remodel. We have a tri-level home and wanted to utilize the space differently which meant we needed to remove kitchen walls to create a more open floor plan. We also remodeled the lower level living area and bathroom. Before we even began, Katelyn was invaluable providing input and feedback about how to utilize the spaces and what made more sense to move/remove/add. Katelyn helped us with both the design and floor plans. She was so great to work with, always positive and confident in her choices, which meant we felt much more confident about the process. She took both of our design styles into consideration and was able to come up with a beautiful and elegant look. I highly recommend her for any design and remodeling, she is truly amazing!

Working with Katelyn was such a fun and collaborative process. She really grasped what we wanted with our home remodel, and even went a step farther to anticipate future needs for our family of five as our kids continue to grow. This was a very large project as literally every room was designed and touched by Katelyn. We went from a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath to a 3 bedroom 2 bath home. The master suite addition is a dream with the most spacious and beautiful master bath. Our living space was transformed into a gorgeous great room that is bright and inviting. Our friends go on and on about how amazing our house looks. We are thrilled with the end result. The home has such a lovely and intentional flow. I love Katelyn's attention to detail it makes our space personal, stylish and unique. We have a custom home that suits our family and our needs. We would highly recommend that you work with Katelyn.

Katelyn with KBG Design was a key element to our home remodel. She understood our needs, home desires and personal style and was able to create a design we loved. She is very talented at problem solving and creating a space in unique areas on a budget mindful of her clients. When problems with contractors arose she was quick to solve them and the project ran smoothly. I would highly recommend Katelyn and her team.

Katelyn was a pleasure to work with right from the start. She responded to my initial correspondence quickly and thoughtfully, showing initiative that was lacking in other designers I was interviewing. One goal of our remodel was to have access from our hot tub to out bathroom, without walking over carpet while wet. The first designer we worked with was not able to give us this option. Katelyn thought outside of the box and came up with the idea of having a sliding glass door inside our shower to the backyard. It was creative and is working out great! She also reworked our laundry/powder bath area, making it more useful and beautiful. Again, she came up with creative ideas to make the most out of the space. I feel like she understood the aesthetic that I was going toward and she really helped to make our house "ours.". Katelyn is responsive and on top of details. She worked well with my contractor and was readily available when any issues came up.

KBG Design helped us create our dream home. We entered the process of remodeling our home with the usual fears and concerns. Katelyn made the process smooth and painless! My husband and I couldn't see how our different styles and tastes could come together in a cohesive design, but Katelyn made it happen. Katelyn did an Awesome Job, We were stuck trying to pick elements for a Master Bathroom remodel we were doing and needed Major Help. We had been looking a tile and finishes for over a month and could not make a decision. Along came Katelyn we had a few meetings and she was able to put together a Color Pallet and a finish schedule. She listened to us during the meetings and did an excellent job of incorporating our needs into the design. We have just finished most of the room and couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. It's like going to a SPA according to my Wife every time you walk into the room. If your looking for a Designer that LISTENS Katelyn and KBG Design is definitely the place to go

I have always wanted a beautiful house but didn't know how to go about it , I have zero design skills or the ability to visualize how to make changes. I actually didn't really know what I wanted. I worked with Katelyn and from our first meeting she put me at ease and took the time to get to know me, asking questions to get an idea on what I liked and more importantly what I don't like. I had my whole house remodeled and it is absolutely gorgeous ( my kitchen and bathroom won design awards ). She helped me with all my furniture. I went from never wanting anyone over, to hosting parties and having folks over for dinner. I now have a beach house and my first call is to Katelyn.

Katelyn designed and managed our kitchen/family room open floor plan remodel seeing things through from conception to final move-in. She was able to quickly visualize and execute great work no matter what the circumstances were. She has impeccable taste in materials and aesthetics! She laid out a kitchen that is functional as it is beautiful. She designed a living space for our family that exceeded our expectations in design, color, and functionality. She got us out of our comfort zone when it came to the selection of fixtures, textiles, and color combinations. She was also able to understand our different taste and vision and merge them into one! We never want to leave our home! Katelyn was very responsive on our project, she put us in touch with exceptional vendors (from engineering to tile) who saw her vision and were able to execute! With that said, she has proven to be able to work wonders with a limited budget and in a short time frame. She loves what she does, and it shows in her work. We highly recommend her and will hopefully be working with her again in the near future!

Katelyn did an amazing job with the design of our remodeled kitchen and baths! She listened to what was important to us and incorporated our needs, wants and tastes into the design while encouraging us to expand our horizons a little outside our comfort zone. She set realistic time and budget targets so we knew what to expect every step of the way. By putting our trust in Katelyn, we ended up with a gold-award-winning kitchen and spaces that are both beautiful and livable. When the main part of the remodel was complete, she even went the extra mile and helped us evaluate our existing furnishings and select a few additional pieces of furniture, art and accessories while staying within our budget. The result is a home we love to come home to every day. Katelyn is a talented designer and a joy to work with. I would highly recommend Katelyn for any interior design project!

We initially hired Katelyn to design a master bathroom addition, and were so thrilled with the results that we have enlisted her to design a full remodel on our beach home. Her taste, experience, and professionalism are unrivaled. Katelyn is not just an Interior Designer- her skill set rivals that of top architects as well. When I initially thought about Interior Design, I thought it was the "drapery decision maker". Katelyn has been a dream to work with! We brought her in to help with the final finishing decisions for our kitchen/living/dining room renovation. She assisted with color selections, furniture, lighting, and drapery. She listened carefully to our needs and desires for our home. She worked within the constraints we gave her, yet help us to push the boundaries of our comfort level in terms of design. She helped us take risks with the design that we longed to do, but didn't know how to do it. Katelyn helped reduce the stress we were under for making the final finishing decisions. I can not recommend KBG Design more! The ideas and knowledge that Katelyn has, for even the smallest projects, never ceases to amaze me. When it comes to putting a personal touch to a space, Katelyn is the best! We are redecorating a room to become a nursery and I wanted something glamorous but not too girly. Katelyn always comes up with something unexpected and encouraged me to look into wallpaper for, at least, one of the walls. I've always been hesitant to use wallpaper but, once I saw the choices she had chosen for me, I ended up doing more than one room! That is just one example, of many, where Katelyn has made my space more special than I could have ever imagined on my own. She is a joy to work with!
