Outside Space NYC Landscape Design

We worked with Edward and team to install custom planters and bluestone paving on our terrace in April 2019, and we were initially very impressed with Outside Space's prices and professionalism, and thrilled with the finished product. However, since the project was completed, three of the bluestone tiles have cracked down the middle during regular use. The first two times this happened, Edward was very responsive, and sent out his team within a few weeks to replace the broken bluestone tile free of charge. After the second broken tile, Edward told us that if this were to happen again, he would either replace the entirety of the tiles and/or the subsystem. Unfortunately, a third tile did break this April (2 years after initial installation). I contacted Edward and he set a date for a team to come out to replace it, but cancelled day-of. Despite multiple emails and phone calls, I have not been able to get ahold of Edward or anyone at Outside Space in the weeks since. The broken tiles are not just inconvenient, but dangerous -- because of the nature of the pedestal system, the tiles are set about 6 inches above the bottom of the terrace, and have the potential to cause real injury if someone fell through. Whether these broken tiles are a result of a faulty group of bluestone tiles or an error in the subsystem, we're disappointed that Edward has been unwilling to make the situation right.

We engaged Outside Space to redo our backyard in Brooklyn and they did a great job all around. We interviewed several contractors- one never gave us an estimate, a couple of others made the job seem much more complicated and lengthy than it needed to be (read much more expensive!). Edward’s team was very reliable, professional, courteous, and efficient. Edward was also very responsive and accommodating to changes to the job that we wanted after the project had started - and the cost of the change orders was also very fair. They finished the entire job on time and within the budget. Lastly, we were very impressed with his willingness to return and make some minor adjustments after the job was completed and paid in full. We would recommend Outside Space without reservation to anyone who needs a landscaping architect.

2017- Brooklyn NY The initial response time from OutsideSpace NYC was good. A few emails later, Edward was on site on April 21 to measure and assess. He was warm, attentive and receptive to all the ideas I had. He asked that I give him a few weeks to submit his plan, projected costs and timeline. That request seemed reasonable to me. A month went by. I reached out via email if he had made any progress on the plans. He last replied on May 18 that he would have something over to me by the weekend. I never heard back from him. If he didn't want to take on my project or suddenly became overbooked, some early and honest communication would have been appreciated. I lost precious time. I never got to see a completed project. I needed to start my search again for another landscape company.

Outside Space built us a beautiful roof deck in Brooklyn that earned many compliments from friends over the years. Edward designed a functional and attractive space that utilized synlawn to create a "grassy" for kids to play, an ipe deck that weathered well over several seasons, and the perfect amount of fencing for privacy. The project was done on time and at budget. When we needed small repairs years later after a major storm, Outside Space responded quickly, fitting us into their busy schedule. We highly recommend Outside Space.

Outside Space NYC did a great job on our back yard. They made great design recommendations and got the job done quickly. Their work was high quality and they were very responsive. I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

Edward and the team are amazing. Designs are beautiful and work with client's ideas and style. Building solutions are creative and keep costs down without cutting corners. Follow up, and care about the finished product let you know they really care and love what they do. I love my garden and it looks as good today as 5 years ago when we put it in.

We are delighted with the work Outside Space NYC did on our terrace. Edward came up with a great construction and irrigation plan and Irene put together a remarkable planting plan, worked in our budget, and executed the plan to add a beautiful pergola and planters filled with a variety of plants that added incredible color and life to our space. The final invoice for our original work came in slightly under budget. Our terrace is constantly filled with new blooms and color from spring to fall. The additional shade and plant life has made the terrace an incredible extension of our living space and a terrific place for our daughter to play and enjoy nature. We continue to use Outside Space NYC for additional work, maintenance and seasonal care and are always thrilled with their work.

Fantastic to work with, helped us bring to life a custom idea we wanted to build. Prompt and good communicators. We love our fence and have neighbors ask us who built it for us.
