I didn't take the traditional route to interior design, but am so glad to have finally arrived! With a bachelors degree in English and a masters degree in Education from Wake Forest, I have collected my share of interesting jobs over the years. A year spent waitressing in Los Angeles netted me plenty of star sightings (prized possession, an "autographed" table doodle by Anthony Hopkins), six months as an office assistant for a Congressman gave me a glimpse into the inner workings of our nation's capitol, and four years as a high school English teacher made me realize that a love of literature doesn't necessarily translate into skill at the blackboard! I finally realized my real love was design and earned a bachelor's degree in interior design from Western Carolina University. Various projects of mine have led to features in magazines such as The Wacoan, WNC Magazine, Design*Sponge and an upcoming feature in Better Homes and Gardens. Our mission at Roost is to help synthesize our clients' tastes into a harmonious space. It's not about our personal taste, but helping our clients to discover the elements of an environment that bring them comfort and happiness. I'm thrilled to call Asheville, NC home where I live with my two faithful office assistants, Deacon the German Shepherd and Daisy the hound dog. They actually aren't very helpful, but they asked for a job title, so I obliged.

Wow....my husband and I feel so fortunate to have found Leslie Huntley of Roost Design. We are newcomers to Asheville, and we needed guidance to make our one bedroom condominium fresh and beautiful. Leslie is responsive, talented, and reliable. Everything she picked, from paint color to furnishings to decorative touches, made our little Asheville nest more perfect. We are really happy, especially since we had a lot to do when we were not in town. Leslie handled it all. I highly recommend Leslie of Roost Design for your project!

Although we did not have a significant need for interior design, we are so happy we decided to bring Leslie on board. She definitely helped manage decisions as we sat down in meetings with the team. Leslie was always early for meetings and was flexible enough with her schedule to meet at our home (easier with kids) and on the lot. She thought of some great ideas for space saving (banquette dining area) and was quickly responsive to emails. Definitely recommend!

Leslie is great to work with. She is very knowledgeable about color, dimensions, and knows how to 'put it all together'. We started a new home from scratch -totally empty-and she skillfully guided us through it. She is great at communicating why something will or will not work and fun to work with. She made an overwhelming venture-filling our home with furniture, window treatments, art work both approachable and enjoyable.

Leslie used her expertise to help me plan a new floor plan for an upcoming kitchen renovation. She listened to my list of "needs and wants" and provided me with several layout options. However, the absolute best floor plan option was the one that Leslie envisioned using her knowledge of spacial relationships, workflow, and visual appeal. She definitely married the technical details with her eye for aesthetics and provided me with the best option for my new kitchen.

Happy to have a few new selections in place and more on the way. My living room and dining room are much improved. Leslie designed a beautiful wall hung cabinet for our tv with shelving and storage for a large wall in my living area. It took me a while to figure out what I liked.

Leslie with Roost Interior Design helped my husband and I tackle a major kitchen and dining room remodel. When we built our home nearly 20 years ago, we knew almost immediately that the flow and design of the kitchen was not what we wanted. The former space was choppy and congested. Leslie transformed our space into the kitchen of my dreams! Her use of colors, textures, and attention to detail created a style for my home that I would never have achieved without her. Leslie goes above and beyond and I would highly recommend her.

I began working with Leslie, at Roost Interior Design, when my husband and I decided to renovate our master bathroom. Leslie helped redesign the space to meet our needs, and she assisted me in picking tile, countertop material, vanity, fixtures and paint colors. We are relatively new to the Asheville area, so she also recommended contractors for us to use, which was a huge help! She is very professional and organized, in addition to being easy to work with. It was very important to me that I work with someone who is easygoing as well as creative. Leslie has proven to be both of those things, and I look forward to working with her on decorating projects in the future.

I am a modern furniture designer and fabricator, the proprietor of Slab Fab Studio in Weaverville NC. I have worked with Roost Interior Design several times on different projects. Leslie is a pleasure to work with IMHO. She listens to her clients design needs, then works diligently and creatively to bring them into being. Being part of a win win design experience is a great place to be, from my perspective as a builder. Leslie is imaginative, creative, visionary, and fun...but also grounded in design practicality. We found Leslie Huntley online and lucked out! From our first meeting she was kind and respectful and timely in developing an interior renovation plan for our second home in the NC mountains. Trying to renovate from long distance was quite a challenge, and Leslie was effective in communicating our original needs to the contractor and she moved the project along on several occasions by being our eyes and ears up on the mountain. She worked well with the cabinet company and scheduled installation of the cabinets and countertops in addition to being present to demand expert workmanship. We would highly recommend Leslie of Roost Interiors to others in the Asheville area.

Kommenteret: Beautiful work! What stain was used on floors?Many apologies! This project was a few years ago and I can't find that information. The floors are oak and I want to say it's Chestnut or Early American Minwax stain.

Kommenteret: Countertop & BacksplashHi! Thanks for the question! That's actually a custom countertop and the backsplash is integral to the top. The lights are just rope lights installed separately. Good luck!
