Adding style and comfort to a country cottage
This much-loved country cottage was full of character and carefully chosen furniture but needed a greater sense of privacy, new soft furnishings and a sense of design continuity.
The old white curtain poles in the sitting room sagged under the weight of the existing curtains, giving the room a tired appearance, and a lack of contrast and texture made the room feel a little flat.
Changing the colour of the curtain pole to a natural wood tone, similar to the existing wooden floorboards and mantlepiece, instantly helped to create a cohesive design. Visual depth and interest were then added to the room via the triple-pleated floor-length curtains and window blind made from Doran Granite Villa Nova fabric. A striped cushion picks up on the green hues of the potplant and the bubbled paperweight.
