For the backsplash we decided to use white, ceramic subway tiles (from Sonoma tilemakers) laid in a herringbone pattern with a darker grout. The open shelving serves well as display, still small enough to not add clutter to the room. Modern Craftsman - Kitchen/Laundry Remodel, West Seattle, WA. The kitchen has upper and lower grey cabinets with a recessed panel and stainless handles. A white painted wood barrel ceiling is a special accent feature along with a slightly curved peninsula bar.

This new kitchen came together with the perfect proportion and charm. Closed cabinetry provides for a clean look, and continuation of the hardwood flooring into the kitchen makes for a more expansive room. Modern Craftsman - Kitchen/Laundry Remodel, West Seattle, WA. This small 1910 bungalow was long overdue for an update. The goal was to lighten everything up without sacrificing the original architecture. Iridescent subway tile, lighted reeded glass, and white cabinets help to bring sparkle to a space with little natural light. I designed the custom made cabinets with inset doors and curvy shaped toe kicks as a nod to the arts and crafts period. It's all topped off with black hardware, countertops and lighting to create contrast and drama. The result is an up-to-date space ready for entertaining!

These clients are great friends of mine, so I really wanted to help them make their remodel special. They recently purchased an historic Craftsman style home in the Claremont Village that required a complete remodel. The kitchen was an area that I helped out the most. It is set in a part of the house that doesn’t get a lot of natural light, so I wanted to keep it light and airy. I didn’t want to do an all white kitchen, so we opted for two tone cabinets, which I absolutely love! We had them custom made and stained a neutral medium brown. There was an empty space under the stairs that I turned into a “secret” walk-in pantry, which is completely nondescript when the doors are closed. The counters are Praa Sands from Cambria, the Roman Shade was custom made from fabric found at the LA fabric district and the back splash is an arrangement of glass subway tiles.

Craftsman style house opens up for better connection and more contemporary living. Removing a wall between the kitchen and dinning room and reconfiguring the stair layout allowed for more usable space and better circulation through the home. The double dormer addition upstairs allowed for a true Master Suite, complete with steam shower!

This newly remodeled kitchen oozes traditional craftsman style right down to the hand-crafted tile above the stove top. Modern updates married into the design keep the space functional. A sleek stove top includes a vent that rises from the countertop when the in use. Bamboo flooring is a sustainable option that contrasts beautifully with the warm cherry cabinets. What was once a traditional butler's pantry is now added storage and counter space (to the left of the door). This kitchen has it all - style, counterspace, storage, and garden views!
