Just the ThingA bulky fireplace was removed and replaced with a modern frameless gas insert and custom Caesarstone surround. To complete the dramatic focal wall, we designed custom cherry-stained bookcases with charcoal grey backing. A well-loved leather sofa sits opposite a pair of new Milo Bauman inspired armchairs. An arresting photo and metal sculpture on an X-shaped side table reflect the clients' taste for modern art.

Making a room work with existing pieces of furniture is not always easy. In this living room the homeowner had already purchased the chairs, coffee table and sofa. The hutch was a family heirloom and had to stay. Everything else is new. Most proud of finding a rug to work in this space from Surya!

room2improveroom2improve worked with the clients in this Birmingham Michigan home for about a year. The client went room by room. The rugs and the armoire were existing, and the client wanted to incorporate them into a more eclectic and contemporary look. Through our consultation services, they achieved what they wanted without the long term commitments and service fees of some interior design firms. They wanted floor plans, art and accessory ideas, some new furnitures, wall colors, wallpaper ideas, and built-in ideas. We also discussed an arrangement of planters that seem to flow from inside to out to further emphasize the view.
