Halper Architects LLCThe house is located in Conyers Farm, a residential development, known for its’ grand estates and polo fields. Although the site is just over 10 acres, due to wetlands and conservation areas only 3 acres adjacent to Upper Cross Road could be developed for the house. These restrictions, along with building setbacks led to the linear planning of the house. To maintain a larger back yard, the garage wing was ‘cranked’ towards the street. The bent wing hinged at the three-story turret, reinforces the rambling character and suggests a sense of enclosure around the entry drive court.
Designed in the tradition of late nineteenth-century American country houses. The house has a variety of living spaces, each distinct in shape and orientation. Porches with Greek Doric columns, relaxed plan, juxtaposed masses and shingle-style exterior details all contribute to the elegant “country house” character.

This project in Prospect Heights, IL features a 20’0” x 40’0” pool, 3’6” to 7’6” deep, with a 7’0” x 9’0” raised hot tub. The shallow end features a 6’0” x 20’0” Sunshelf. Both the pool and the hot tub have an automatic pool safety cover with a custom stone lid system. There is Sea Glass tile on the Sunshelf, Stairs and Spa benches. The pool coping is Valders Wisconsin Limestone in Dove White color. The pool finish is Tahoe Blue Ceramaquartz. The pool deck consists of porcelain pavers. The fire pit and fire feature pillars feature stone veneer and bluestone coping. The seat wall is porcelain veneer and bluestone coping. Braen SupplyComplementing the Home
This homeowner approached the experts at Braen Supply to help him select materials for his newly constructed home. The style and design of the house was already completed, therefore, the selected materials needed to complement the features of the home.
The homeowner’s one request was to find a patio stone that would emulate a bluestone; however, it would not absorb as much heat as bluestone, allowing swimmers to comfortably move from the pool to the patio without having to worry about shoes.
Working With the Experts
The experts at Braen Supply were able to find the perfect material to meet the homeowner’s needs and then used that to find materials for the façade, fireplace and outdoor kitchen, while still maintaining a concise look throughout the home. The materials that were selected gave the home a unique, yet classic look.
Hydroscapes LLCCustom designed pool fencing that meets city requirement for pool barrier. Materials are wrought iron and steel mesh. Can be painted and/or powder coated or allowed to rust to match surrounding terrain. Allows for more open feel than typical pool fencing.
