Refined SpaceWe took a tired 1960s house and transformed it into modern family home. We extended to the back to add a new open plan kitchen & dining area with 3m high sliding doors and to the front to gain a master bedroom, en suite and playroom. We completely overhauled the power and lighting, increased the water flow and added underfloor heating throughout the entire house.
The elegant simplicity of nordic design informed our use of a stripped back internal palette of white, wood and grey to create a continuous harmony throughout the house. We installed oak parquet floors, bespoke douglas fir cabinetry and southern yellow pine surrounds to the high performance windows.
| SPIRAL ARCHITECTS |The design of the home is inspired by the very best examples of local Spanish Colonial design as seen in the famed Palmcroft and Encanto neighborhoods in Phoenix through its carefully composed massing, fenestration, and detailing. The entry arch, door awnings, plaster grille, wrought iron details and corner chimney mass are all highly evocative of the period, and along with the use of authentic three-coat stucco over metal lath, reinforces the strong sense of authenticity which emanates from the home. Архитектурная студия ChadoВ архитектуре загородного дома обыграны контрасты: монументальность и легкость, традиции и современность. Стены облицованы кирпичом ручной формовки, который эффектно сочетается с огромными витражами. Балки оставлены обнаженными, крыша подшита тонированной доской.
Несмотря на визуальную «прозрачность» архитектуры, дом оснащен продуманной системой отопления и способен достойно выдерживать настоящие русские зимы: обогрев обеспечивают конвекторы под окнами, настенные радиаторы, теплые полы. Еще одно интересное решение, функциональное и декоративное одновременно, — интегрированный в стену двусторонний камин: он обогревает и гостиную, и террасу. Так подчеркивается идея взаимопроникновения внутреннего и внешнего. Эту концепцию поддерживают и полностью раздвижные витражи по бокам от камина, и отделка внутренних стен тем же фактурным кирпичом, что использован для фасада.
